ESPN - Parcells discounts talk of Taylor's departure, expects Pro Bowler to return - NFL

"I have no idea where that [story] started, how it started," Taylor told ESPN's Kenny Mayne in the March 24 issue of ESPN The Magazine. "People are looking for stories but I'm the wrong person to ask because Bill and [Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland] call the shots there and neither have spoken to me.
"I'm under contract, so until I am told otherwise I am a member of the Dolphins. The thing is, I haven't talked to anybody. Everyone is talking to everybody else about me but no one is talking to me."
When asked about Parcells' take on his future, Taylor said he couldn't predict his future.
"We all know there are no guarantees in this business, so you kind of take it a day at a time," Taylor told Mayne. "It's the beginning of March and football season is a long way away. A lot can happen between now and then.

I think JT is being professional about it, and will do whatever Parcells decides for him.

We get that 2nd rounder and somthing else id be ok saying goodbye...

I think you both are right, JT knows BP is the boss and holds him under contract for two more years. And JT has always been a true PRO.. Plus It's not like he is playing for free.. However I think BP would trade JT if the price was right, say a First rounder or a Second and a Third.. NO WAY he RETIRES, especially after he killed Ricky for leaving the team in 05, called him a quitter and dressed up like him for hollaween..

By the way, that trade put up with JT and a pick going to Dallas looks like some more BS made by some Cowboy fans dreaming. Search Jason Taylor, Dallas and see how stuff like this gets started.. Even mentioned JT taking a pay cut for them as well, maybe having him take a contract like Zach did for them.... Too Funny,,,,,, What a waste of time.

Apples and oranges. JT retiring after a decade plus of tremendous production and accomplishments is not the same as Ricky "retiring" for herbal/lifestyle reasons. JT could retire tomorrow and no knowledgeable football fan could say squat about it.

That said, I think he knows he can still play, but it probably won't be for us. BP might prefer that he did, but he won't miss a chance to grab a high pick for a guy who has admitted he doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding project and might retire if that's his only option.

Does anyone else find it odd that the neither the VP, GM, or head coach has talked with the top and most respected player on our team? Makes me wonder if they said a word to Zach before they gave him the boot.

I dont think that tells us anything. He leaves the door wide open for something happen. Obviously, hes not going to badmouth the organization one way or another.

The #1 reason Ricky decided to leave the team is because wanny tried to run him into the ground and Ricky and No other man could take that kind of pounding. Which is why Ricky came back for Saban and saved the second half of the season for Miami in 05. A True Star and GAME changer. Unfortunately, since then, he has been having recurring psychological problems.. Hopefully he has a few good years left in him, If he does, he will be a big reason Miami turns it around in 08. On the other hand, you have Taylor, he has been great and has been compensated appropriately, but how can you explain him leaving because they are losing not being a QUITTER.. Their are much better players in NFL history who have not gotten a Superbowl RING, what makes him so special.. Enough babying JT, there are plenty of games I have seen him disappear like Houdiny.. He Is not a GOD..

Nope; it was Jason Cole. The same guy who was threatened with a lawsuit after "breaking the story" that the Broncos video taped the Chargers.

I'm honestly happy if he stays or happy if he goes (provided we get good compensation)

If he stays, we keep one of the greatest pass rushers to play the game, and a career Dolphin , also would be a great mentor should we draft his hopeful future replacement.

If he goes it will be a sad day for fin fans but it will be beneficial to the rebuild process if we continue to stockpile picks.

Basicly for me it comes down to, does he still want to be a Dolphin? Earlier reports made me believe he wanted to play for a ring elsewhere.
