Taylor to go to L.A. after 'Stars,' to miss minicamp

"I know what the reaction's going to be: Oh, he's the leader of that team, and he needs to be there," Taylor wrote. "But, see, there're different types of leadership in sports. There're guys that can talk all the time, and try to lead by saying: 'Oh, this is what we need to do, let's go, rah, rah rah.' They're rah-rah guys. And then they're guys, like me, who lead by example. And people are saying now, 'Your example should be being there working out with the team.' Well, at the end of the day, I will show up and I will do anything I need to do, and I will be the best football player I can be."

Whatever

OK, I didn't begrudge him for going on 'dancing with the stars', and in fact defended him from a lot of the stupid stuff being said on this board as I actually have some close connections to the man, but I can't defend this. This is wrong, IMO. He needs to come back, learn the defense, and establish himself as the leader of this new team.

Jason Taylor is doing nothing but thumbing his nose at the team. He acts like he's above the team. I am on Parcells and Irelands side on this one.

I hate to say I told you so..........

Time to move on folks!

I've been stating since Cameron came on that JT has revealed himself to be a complete sham of a "leader". I was ripped endlessly for it, too.

You should have been. Until this offseason, he's been a tremendous leader for this team.

I personally dont think its a big deal, but it is news worthy
Personally I think it's a VERY big deal. What message is that sending to other players on the team who will be out there in the heat? They're not going to respect JT, and why should they? There is almost a completely new team on the field, and what message is being sent when all the new players see that JT has more important things than football instead of sweating and bleeding out on the practice fields. They're going to see pretty boy hollywood

Lead by example...by skipping minicamp and saying, 'I'll take care of it'?

OK...

While I would obviously rather he be there... It is absolutely no big deal for him to miss this mini-camp or any other mini-camp at this point in his career.

JT's a professional and for fans to dog him now is insulting. The guy has been nothing short of spectacular for over a decade and now he needs to be wiping rookie noses for three days to make this team better?

He will be fine and if the rookies are any good they will be fine as well. Let the coaches coach and the players play; and when camp starts in July I'm sure you will be reading how Taylor is dominating Long

Wow.. He's really tarnishing his legacy here.. Well the legacy he doesnt seem to give a crap about since he'd rather be remembered for his "acting" career than his football career. An acting career he'll no doubt bomb in.
