TE Alex Hernandez with first round pick?

If any of you caught the Sugar Bowl today, Florida's TE Aaron Hernandez played like a beast. I would love to see us draft him. I believe he's projected to get drafted in the 1st round. Do you guys think he'd be worth using our 1st round pick on?

He's got great hands and he runs like a running back with the football, breaking tackles, making guys miss, and fighting for the extra yard every time he gets the ball. He's fast for his size. He's big enough to be a good blocker, and would line up awesomely across from Fasano with Fasano being the primary blocking TE (basically Hernandez takes up the role David Martin filled for us last year). I think he's worth our first rounder. I think this guy is going to be really good in the NFL.
 
Hell no. Dude has some serious issues blocking. He's a big physical body, great hands, smart player and I like him a lot but you can' justify spending the first round pick on him. The tight end position is not a glaring issue like wide receiver and linebacker needs are. We're much better off waiting until the fourth round to select Jimmy Graham at tight end.
 
you mean Aaron Hernandez? yes hes good but first round pick... Hell no! More like mid to late rounder
 
I made a thred on this guy about 10 days ago and everyone seems to think he cant block....I'm not so sure he should be cast aside so quickly.

It's pretty obvious. I'm not casting him aside. I think he's a great player and I'm the #1 Gator Hater here. Hernandez is a great talent. But spending our first roun pick on him is a waste.

Sorry, yeah Aaron Hernandez. I haven't seen him much this year, but I've watched some of the Gator games and football draft talk and he is mentioned as one of the best TE's coming out of college and I thought he was mentioned as projected to go in the 1st round. From what I've seen, I think he has the athletic skill set to be special at the TE position in the NFL. Like a Dallas Clark, Shannon Sharpe type TE...The guy catches everything and has ran a 4.52 40. So for people saying we need a WR, the guy can play WR! I saw on another site that he's actually projected 2nd/3rd round (I can't see him dropping to us in the 3rd), so what about us using our 2nd round on him?
 
He'll declare. With the status of Urban Meyer being uncertain, Hernandez will forgo his Senior season.
 
I've seen Hernandez play a good bit this season and the guy just keeps impressing. Great hands, quickness, good routes and nice seperation all result in a player in the mould of Jason Witten or Dallas Clark, at least in the receiving game. His blocking is an issue no doubt, but its something he will improve on who ever drafts him.

Is he worth a first rounder? I dont think so, especially with the other needs we have on the team. But if he fell to the second, then yes I think he would be value there.
 
Drafting a TE in the first with our defensive problems would be a huge mistake. I doubt we draft a WR in the first but I would do that before I would draft a TE there.

FS, OLB, ILB and NT need to be taken care of first!

Lmfao a first rounder? a first rounder? im a diehard florida fan and trust me, i would be somewhat pissed if we used a 3rd on him..
