My first observation I agree with you if there are 2 positions that we really did not rienforce in FA it was tight end and running back and IMO they are very important especially to give Henne the weapons he needs.
My second observation I would make that implies to me they already have a ton of faith in Daniel Thomas and Clay to feel those voids.
This draft was interesting after Parcells left in that we only ended up with 6 picks with 2 in the 7th round.
Looking at that draft in hindsight of the players they drafted Pouncy, Thomas, Clay and Wilson were very high priority targets of the phins to fill the needs they felt they had. A guard or center hardly every has gotten picked as high as Pouncy in the first round, Thomas we know they traded up for, Gates I think fell into there laps as they speed recieve that they would have liked but probably did not expect, Clay was rated more a 7th rounder and Wilson was not even mentioned in any draft guide etc that I have looked at he was so far in left field. I believe Kearse was more of a dart throw pick a big body in the trenches. Would like know the how/who made the decision on him. Anyway moving on from the reports are but Kearse look they have a pretty good shot at making the team.
If that happens that a pretty high drafting percentage for picks but when your only picking 6 with 4 of them in the later rounds of the draft you better be shooting bullets and hoping that the Patriots who are picking 6 picks in the first 3 rounds are shooting a lot of duds.
You can never have too many proven weapons. Picking up Bradshaw, Miller in free agency would really be hedging your bets and giving Henne better tools to hold onto everybodies jobs. If we would have had the pick I would have liked DJ Willaims too. Wonder why he and Mallet dropped so far in the draft. Wonder what the NFL scouts know or "think" they know.
