Here IMO is where I think Miami has an advantage over the Steelers, and where I think they lack.....

QB:
Advantage Dolphins- With Big Ben out this week, this is pretty obvious, but even if he wasen't I still would say Dolphins because healthy I think Daunte at QB is a better difference maker, and Miami has better talent back him up.

RB/FB:
Advantage Steelers- To me Willie Parker and Ronnie Brown are equally important to their team, so if it only fell on those two, it might be a tie as talent, but Ronnie does still need to prove himself, and their is better talent backing him up.
Note: If Suggs is able to show the talent he has (when not injured), and Ronnie starts to look like he did last year, this could change in a hurry.

WR/TE:
Advantage Dolphins- Even if Ward plays this Thursday, the question is not so much which team is better as it is, by how much is Miami better. Right now Miami has better talent and experience.

O-line:
Advantage Steelers- Coaching is very important, and Hudson Hauck is without doubt one of the best, but while the Steelers O-line did not exactly have a great year in 05, they were again very consistant, and made the blocks when they counted. Until Miami's O-line start to show consistancy when it counts, they can not be thought of as better then the Steelers line.

D-Line:
Advantage Dolphins- All dues respect to the Steelers, and their Defensive End and tackles, but this years Defensive line for the Dolphins is going to be JUST PLAIN SCARY. Last years Line that helped make Miami's D the 2nd best in sack, got better.

LB:
Advantage Steelers- Linebacker U is just too darn good, Miami has talent, but they are not in the Steeler's level as a unit. The Steelers probably have the best Linebacking unit in the NFL, and no team can blitz from the Linebacking position like the Steelers.

Corners and Safeties:
Advanatge Steelers- Miami's Secondary could be much better then people think, but for the time being, like a lot of the other positions, Miami's starters are going to have to prove they are as good as they looked in preseason, and Troy Polamalu did show last years he can take over a game.

Kicker & Punter:
Advantage Dolphins- The Kicking game will be much better this year for us, as I expect Jones to continue to boom the ball, but even more, Mare after some mediocre seasons, looks to be ready to have another big year, and maybe one of his best.

Kick & Punt Return:
Advantage Dolphins- I don't expect either team too look to spectacular returning the ball, but Miami does have more consistant and tested returners, while the best the Steelers will have is Holmes who is a rookie, and untested.

Kick & Punt coverage:
Advantage Dolphins-
The Dolphins had a few problems in preseason, but this is still one of the more consistant units, and I do not expect that to change.

Coaching Staff:
Advantage Dolphins- The Steelers have a very good coaching staff, but right now there is no coaching staff as good as Miami (a Top HC....2 former HCs that are considered top coordinators, a O-line coach that is one of the best in the game).

This is not going to be an easy game, the Steelers are a run 1st pass 2nd team, with a very good defense, they will be playing in their home stadium, and will be getting their rings...they will be pumped, and very dangerous. These are my opinions, and would be very interested in what other thought were advantages for us.

Good analysis, although as big a Saban, Capers & Mularky fan as I am, you can't take anything away from Cowher and his staff. They are the SB Champions after all.

Good analysis. It'll be a good game but for some reason, this game reminds me of when we played Jax a few years ago and Leftwich as a rookie, Michael Vick and when we inserted Lucas. In the end, our D made them all make a critical mistake and in the case of Lucas, he won a couple of games also but so what? Batch isn't a rookie but he hasn't had that many snaps. It will be a mistake for Saban to play it close to the vest just because the Steelers play it that way. We need to take advantage of the advantage we have at QB. If we fail to do so and Saban keeps it close, we will likely lose. We need to put points on the board and not play Wanny ball.

Dont forget both Capers and Mularkey are Cowhers former DC, and OC.

Thanks, I Do agree with you, and no, I take nothing away from Cowher and Co, the thing is that we have 4 Coaches that can arguably be said are in the top 5 of their position (Well with Mularky you may have to do much more arguing then the rest), and they are all at the most important coaching positions Head coach, O-Coodinator, D-Coodinator, Oline Coach. That is close to an all-star Coaching team.

I agree, this is a very dangerous game, can't play Wanny ball, or we are dead.

Ronnie Brown is far superior to Willie Parker.

I also believe so, but for now for me to pick him over Parker would be a homer move, Ronnie needs to prove he can play as the #1 Rb, be injury free, and be a n impact player...I believe he can :D

That is very true, and they were great Coordinators for your team.

I would probably change both the RB/FB and coaching staff to pushes, other than that I agree.

Looks like we've got most of the favorable comparisons. However, I think the most important unit to a football team is the O-line. If they have us there, then they have an edge.

Not exactly, it all has to do with what happens in the trenches, and which defensive line is able to dominate the other teams O-line the best. I believe Miami D-line is going to be a knightmare for the Steelers O-line, While Miami O-line will be able to a better job against the Steelers. As long as Miami is able to do a good job of picking up thier blitz, there should not be as big a problem.

Even though I thought the Steelers O-line is a little better, I also believe the Dolphins Offensive line (Were top 5 last year in giving up sacks) and defensive line (were a big part the D being top 2 in getting sacks) are even better this year, while the Steelers O-line really were not as good last years as the year before, and the Steelers Defensive line lost a key player from last year. In the trenches Miami is getting better while the Steelers are declining.

I agree with most of what you said. It will be a very tough game.
