ok i am a dolphin fan from new england so im not a dolphin only knowledge person, which is not a bad/good thing its just who i am. since said that, please stop this quarterback talk. i dont know of u understand the quarterback is an overrated position. lets look back on the last 10 qbs to be in the sueprbowl we have tom brady(only good qb to win a superbowl in a while) (and i hate the pats), donovan mcnabb(overrated?), jake delhomme(whered he come from), rich gannon(2 good years), brad johnson(vikings?), Kurt warner(2 good years), kerri collins(huh), trent dilfer(is he even playing), steve mcnair(was he really ever good), chris chandler(wow), and finally another good qb in john elway(but he was finished afterwards). how many peyton mannings, michael vicks, drew brees, do we hear in there?

not many, so for all you dolphins fans, let me ask you this? who was the quarterback at LSU during saban's championship season? we don't know(his name was matt mauck and where is he playing now?) the concept of football is a team sport, when the patriots won those 3 championships they had
STRONG AND SOLID defenses. this year they got a crappy d and they had a crappy d in 2002 when the bucs had that amazing d!

we need to draft defense and pray we get a qb who makes the least amount of mistakes, all we need a qb to do now adays is get by. So STOP THESE QUARTERBACK THREADS. if u want a qb become a colts fan

I agree with the premise of the thread: You dont need a high round qb to win the SB.

I dont agree with your assessment of McNabb, Gannon, Delhomme, Mcnair. And Brad Johnson won with Tampa, was always a good qb when hes been given a chance. Im not a Collins supporter but during the NYG run he played out of his mind the last 9 regular season games + playoffs with like 20+ TD passes in those games. If he had played like that consistantly we'd be talking about Collins as a great QB.

College football is very different from the NFL. In the NFL you need a good QB. Even in the years were a historically lesser QB won it all you'll find that he played very well during the SB season.

Remember Miami went to the Superbowl with a quarterback named Woodley.

3rd string for the Tennessee Titans, and they believe with some coaching that he'll be a servicable back-up QB in this league.

So since when is having a great QB & being 12-0 a bad thing?? Don't know bout' you but i'd take it!

Qb's get the glory, defense wins championships, 'nuff said? Almost. Solid play from the Qb to convert 3rd downs, control the clock and avoid turn overs are much of what is required to keep the defense fresh and win the battle of field position. The Qb position as a whole can't be underestimated when it comes to being a leader of the O, and maintaining the game. But the premise is solid with albeit a few caveats.

im just saying you all are getting emotional ups and downs with these arguments with who should be the qb here and who shouldn't be, to be honest NO ONE KNOWS WHO THE NEXT DAN MARINO, the quarterback position has changed and now qbs can almost average a 1000 yards, im jusy saying we could win with gus or sage at the qb spot, if we loaded them with minimal oppportunities to fail, and having the top defense helps (ravens, buccanners, pats(at least one of those years). the only offensive heavy championship team was the rams and the colts i repeat WILL NOT WIN THE SUPERBOWL, u can quote me, i may be wrong but i just got this gut feeling it wont happen, like i had a gut feeling ricky williams wanted to bring my hopes back!

Dilfer had been good enough to make the Pro Bowl while at Tampa.

i agree you really just need a serviceable qb to win....but we dont even have that right now IMO. We dont need a superstar there but we do need someone who can get the ball to our recievers and make good decisions. I think someone like Carr or Rivers might be good.
ALso, I disagree with you about McNair and McNabb. They are both very good qb's. McNabb really hasnt ever had a good revieving corp with the exception of TO...and McNair was the heart and sole of that team and played excellent that season.

don't agree with your quaterback ratings. McNabb is a top 5 QB, Delhomme is a good QB, Gannon was good, Johnson isnt great but is average and does what it takes to win. Kurt Warner had 2 of the best years a QB could have. Collins and Dilfer i dont like. McNair when he one the superbowl carried that team on his shoulders, i think he meant more to that team then Eddie George, McNair was a great QB and still would be i think if he didnt always get injured

Agree with the team concept altho that's not a novel idea tho. Any sucessful team does so by the sum of it's total parts. The QB position is over rated somewhat in that it doesn't have as much to do with his overall athleticism as much as it does with his leadership abilities and overall field generalship. but then again, he can only take care of what's on his side of the ball and can do little for the D side other than lending moarl support, etc. Take for example, John Elway. Good leader but was always lacking "something to goall the way. How many SBs did he lose before he found that something in a running game. Then he won back to backs. Marino was in the same boat. greatest passer ever, good team motivator but always lacked a good running game and D for the most part. He lost one SB during his second yr and never got back. So yes, in this sense, the position may be over rated, as far as the end result [SBs] are concerned.

u guys are missing my point here, im not saying they are BAD quarterbacks im just saying that they caught fire for 2 seasons and that was it! u guys think we need some 15 year qb like a dan marino, well i got news for u, im being a realist and these SCHMOS at qb are coming in and winnin the game, i always felt the qb was an overrated position, i guess it explains why im a defensive guy

I think if you go back and look at the seasons those qb's had they all played well donwn the streach to win the SB. They arnt all pro bowlers but I know Brad Johnson had a pro bowl type year they won the SB. I dont think he got the nod but he deserved it.
