This team is finally headed in the right direction but I do not think the talent level on the roster was as bad as the record last year. Just terrible coaching! Given that they have done the right thing IMO and that is start to shore up the lines. We grabbed a couple of OL and DE guys which has made a big difference.

#1 priority to me is to do this again - we need a NT for the future. Solai is a waste, and Fergy should be a rotation guy. We also need to continue to build the OL. That means a RT if Carey doesn't come back and possibly another guard or center depending on what these backups do filling in for the starters the rest of the way.

next is ILB - we have been winning with inconsistent play here IMO. I don't think Ayodele and Crowder are championship caliber LB's. they don't make plays consistently. Crowder is constantly out of position and I see him gone in FA because someone will overpay.

Next is DB - we need a big in your face DB to handle the bigger WR's. We will also need a safety or 2 depending on resigning Bell or Hill.

I think this draft could be all D with possibly an OL or WR thrown in middle or late rd. Our D is not dominating enough to be a serious playoff team. I'd expect BP and Ireland to focus here big time - especially at LB and DB.

I disagree. With Will Allen the only DB not a free agent this offseason, that is probably our most pressing need.

1a. An OLB to play opposite Joey Porter
1b. A CB to play opposite Will Allen
2. A FS
3. A NT
4. A C

I think I'm in agreement with the first post. Defense wins Championships, and to be honest, we aren't even close.

Does anyone really scare you on the Dolphin front 7? Porter has played far better than last year, and has contributed nicely, but let's not expect a repeat next year. Plus, when he has been matched up against good LT's (W. Jones, O. Pace, R. Clady) he has been pretty much silenced. Maybe a coverage sack or two, but not a lot of real consistent pressure. Really no help from anyone else in the Front 7 either.

We need pass rushers and big-play run stuffers. Roth, Ayodele, and Crowder do not fit into this category. New threats at those spots will make our average secondary much better.

Other than Will Allen (who is pretty solid in my eyes), there is not a lot to get excited about back there. And when there is no pressure generated upfront, these guys get cooked (ie.-2nd game against the Pats).

Yeah, I remember when our defense was top 5 in the league a few years back and our offense was abysmal......ah yes all the championships we won with such a stout defense

It was very obvious this past sunday againts the rams that we could not generate any d@ mn pressure up front. I would say we pick up some big defensive tackles first...

our DB's are pretty bad, at most positions... I think Bell and Goodman will be resigned, but the rest need to be gone... i dunno if they keep lehan, the resigned him to a 3 year 3 mill$ contract this offseason...

i dunno what to do about matt roth, the guy has a big motor and is pretty mean, but we could use an upgrade... I'd prefer playmaking MLBS than OLB... to me Porter/Roth/Anderson isn't that bad..., but Crowder/Ayodle/Torbor isnt very attractive.. i like what ayodele does, but he's just not a bigtime LB.. solid depth tho.. crowder will get overpaid somewhere else and thats okay with me... i never had much affinity for him... torbor.. eh, seems like a decent back up and is solid on ST...

to me, we have to get 10 good Oline guys, i like our starters... but really dislike our depth.. and i want to see some center competition with satele, he's undersized IMO...
We need a great blocking TE, hopefully a 6'6 guy that can be in the redzone for us too...
WR, we need one guy to replace wilford, whether it's via 3 round draft pick, or a minor FA aquisition.. we dont need a no.1 WR yet, that position should be looked at in 2010, when there is a plether of amazing WR's out there, plus we will probbaly go deep into postseason. Plus pennington can make something out of nothing, and i think Henne needs a 6'5 fast wideout to open things for ginn and give Henne a big target, Pennington doesn't need that... Penningotn needs a solid run Blocking OLINE... and a defense that gets off the field on 3rd down...

IMO biggest team needs in order is... CB, MLB, NT, FS, OL depth, DB depth

We now run a 3-4. No defensive tackles. A nose tackle and two defensive ends.

As far NT's go the kid from Alabama swears he is not going to declare. Cody.
There aren't any solid NT prospects in this draft, but Gabe Watson from the cardinals may very well make it to FA. The Cardinals are going to be flat broke even after trading Boldin.

I am expecting the Dolphins to pick him up.

As far as Soliai goes, everybody usually forgets that he was drafted as a project. He began his career on the OL in college and then moved DL but really only played on the DL one year.

The fact he hasn't done much his first 2 years isn't surprising. He is improving slowly, I don't think anyone has ever called him a fast lerner.

I agree we should make move but I don't see Soliai as worthless. He is under contract at a very low salary and I think we could trade him.

Indy may be a real taget destination for him. They have no real size or run stuffers on their DL and it may cost them the playoffs this year.

Our DB's are not "pretty bad". Our DB's have made plenty of plays this year. If we are at a spot in the first round where a star CB is there, we would probably take em.

But like a former poster, I agree DT is priority #1. An OLB to take a slow Matt Roth and put him back at DE is another priority. Of course, OL is a priority, IT IS ALWAYS A PRIORITY! We have been looking for a Safety for quite some time now and I could certainly see that but I would not be surprised if they bring back Hill and get another Safety in the draft or FA.

I see us getting a WR in FA and an OL in FA. Defense wins championships! Billy P gonna build it, and hopefully all the fin fans will show up this time! I still have my doubts.

Thats the same way I have it but you forgot guard, on offense thats our one huge hole.

In a 3-4 the pressure is suppose to come from the OLBs..

The problem was their OL was getting to the second level. In a 3-4 that is not supposed to happen, someone on the DL was not doing what they needed to do.

Jason Allen is "not" a FA this offseason and neither is Michael Lehan.
