I was listening to Mel Gel the other day, and he had a VG point.

If you look at teams with more success in the draft in recent history, you find Balt, Pitt, GB, etc. who all have had great stability from top to bottom on their teams. It's the same GM, talent evaluators, coaches, and schemes. When new guys are brought in, it's mostly to do the same as the guy they replaced.

Miami has been the opposite for many a year, and may well lead the NFL in making changes from the FO to coaches. This obviously does not work, as MANY a Phinatic will testify to.

Our team appears to be on the verge of some semblance of stability and, like him or not, it's coming with Philbin. I'm not a big fan of his but, am seeing the team going in a VG direction with the FO and coaches we now have.

I'm hoping we "stay the course" with what we now have, and never thought I would see myself posting this.

You will get ripped for this
But I do agree philbin is as good as the product he is given to coach. I think philbin can be a very good coach if we continue to hit on draft picks.

LOL, I do not post things with any concern of being ripped. All are welcome to take their best shots but, come prepared.

I disagree with your comments on Philbin bro. I believe Hickey is the one adding stability in our recent draft.

Need to understand that it is not any one person who dictates the draft's success, it is a team effort from the FO, coaches, etc. Philbin has been the constant as we hopefully turn the corner in the draft.

I understand that bro however if Hickey didn't come on board would Philbin still be here? I believe he is a huge part of why we can't get better than 500

Stability and continuity means nothing if you have losers and whimps coaching the team.

Is it Philbin or Ross? In my view it's Ross, who has steered away from making a coaching change when most folks thought Joe was done for after each of the last two years.

Ross isn't a dummy - he wouldn't have been in the position to buy the Dolphins if he wasn't shrewd, commercially minded, a leader and cautious in driving unnecessary change when times get a little rough.

Most likely, he would have gone through a number of tough times in the Real Estate market so he's probably more experienced in managing through the peaks and troughs than any of us may realise.

Pardon the real estate pun, but if he's smart, he's may have looked to the blueprint(s) of those successful organisations - he's likely taking a page out of the books of Pittsburgh, Giants, Patriots and you could say Packers also - consistency with the core group and patience with Coaches - particularly Pittsburgh and the Giants.

What I am very curious to watch is Tannenbaum, who strikes me as a bit of a swash buckler who will take chances - will this fit with the apparent control and calm that Philbin and Hickey outwardly display - or, if after another tough year will he try and influence the need to change - or will he stick to what I think is the target of Ross and that is to build a culture and environment of loyalty, longevity and consistency - whether we like it or not.

All due respect to Mel, Pittsburgh and Baltimore success in drafting hasn't really been all that great. It's all perception but mostly they are successful because they have qb's and lately they have missed the playoffs.

I'm fine with stability if it follows success, but stability for stability's sake doesn't guarantee success.

Hickey has only been around for one draft. I have no idea how he added any kind of stability to our drafts prior to 2014.

Exactly. Stability comes when you've found a set of front office personnel that know how to get from A to B to C. Marrying a team to a poor front office just means years of mistakes.

Bro I feel he will be better than Ireland and Philbin drafting. Yes it has only been a year so we will have to see how he does in the future.

And that's fine and I have no problem with anyone praising Hickey for the job he's done thusfar; however, I don't see how you can give him credit for "stability in our recent drafts" (drafts...plural) when he's only been here for one draft.

Also, don't misinterpret my comments as a show of support for Philbin. He should have been on a train out of Miami yesterday.
