To be honnest, I did not expect to see Pat White running the wildcat on the first game of the season. I definitelty did not expect Pat White to throw a deep pass to Ginn out of that formation.

Imagine how teams will have to study us now since we have regular Penny, the wildcat + White who can throw deep in the wildcat

teams will not be too worried about white beating them deep, he has never been an accurate deep thrower and he will definately tuck it and run more. Im pretty sure defenses are hoping to see a rookie qb over Pennington. It gives them a chance to force him into a mistake

I'm sure that 7 point output is keeping defensive coordinators up all night.

Yea what a deep ball he has. Too bad accuracy needs to be apart of the deep game, and White has shown absolutely NOTHING to warrant those play calls for him. He has had accuracy issues since Training Camp. If I was a D coord, play White to pass because he won't out run or run over anybody in the front 7 or any Safety.

Had White completed that pass, perhaps you'd be right. Right now, if I was a defensive coordinator, I'd prefer to see White handling the ball rather than Ronnie. Until White can show some accuracy, he’s not going to scare anyone any more than Jayson Foster.

If I was a Def Coordinator and I saw White come into the game.. I would roll over laughing my butt off.. Right now that young kid does not belong on a NFL field and Miami is dope to think he is a game breaker..

Maybe in a couple of years, when he's had a chance to mature and get used to NFL speed, then he might be a weapon of some sort... in the right offense.. but so far, he is just a wasted draft pick..

Hate to say it but gotta agree with most of the posts above - defensive coordinators won't bel losing any sleep over our "offense".

-Penny is what he is; a heady QB with not enough arm to keep Ds honest and a guy who is prone to turn overs when playing the better Ds of the league.

-Our OL still can't get a push up the middle and Jake Long is starting to get abused. He will be a target from here on out.

-Ronnie just doesn't have the instincts of a great RB.

-Ginn is indeed a creampuff and Bess, Camarillo and Co. are just possession guys.

The wildcat isn't enough to overcome all of the above.

Ultimately, we are probably better than we looked yesterday but not that much better and maybe it will be a blessing in disguise if we start off with a bad enough record to dictate that we make-it-or-break-it with Henne and Pat White this year.

I really don't want to go into 2010 without knowing who our QB of the future is.

We'll see. Sparano claimed in his presser that some of the Pat White plays were just to see how the defense lines up. If we take that at face value, then I'm sure the coaching staff got some valuable information out of it that will make it more effective in the future.

Most people on this board tend to forget exactly what kind of a coaching staff we're talking about here and what they managed to accomplish last year. Let them do their thing before you think your 5 years of Pop Warner and high school football experience makes you a better coach.

Well not sure what the reaction of the Atlanta defense has to do with the rest of the league. Shouldnt he have been more worried about trying to win the game because what ever he learned from that did little to win that game.

We still haven't shown anything different. Pennington made the same throw last year in that play, but he actually connected for a TD.

personally I have seen no reason to put white on the field yet.

i actually agree here... people are dissing White for missing on 1 deep pass, while Penny has only hit on like 2 all of last year...

it was a great attempt and i was VERY Surprised to see White out there already... i think if we can work it in properly it will be a great tool... White has a pretty accurate deep ball, and plays like that will open up his running lanes in that formation as well...

I'm with you there...in several other posts I've said they probably shouldn't have busted out the WildPat yesterday. But they did, and hopefully they learned something from it.

As for Atlanta's defense applying to the rest of the league...there are only so many different ways you can attack the formation. If other teams feel Atlanta was successful in stopping it, they're even more likely to do what Atlanta did.

The key to stopping the wildcat or almost any deceptive play is discipline, dont get fooled or lulled. With White at Qb you single cover and dare him to beat you, because more than likely a rookie qb is not going to come in and be the man from day one. The main weaknesses of the wildcat are running the opposite way or passing the ball, you use that that in your strategy, you dont totally ignore the pass but there is little to no need for double coverage.

Here's a thought for you. Has the Wildcat back fired on us? The thought was to give the other teams something to worry about and to take away from game preperation. Has it taken away from Miami's preperation?

Miami didn't seem to have a clear game plan, and completely lacked commitment to the run. Everythime they started moving the ball on the ground they tried to get cute and it didn't work. I don't know, I would just like to see a solid game plan and enforce our will on the other team.
