How probable is it for someone to tear an ACL during minicamp? I thought there is minimum contact and the players don't go all out, so I would assume a very low probability. Then why have there been two incidents in the NFL over this past week? is it just the way the dice have rolled? Or do athletes get pushed too hard during almost meaningless drills?

Expect the unexpected in this day in age. But come on, anybody can get hurt doing anything. be thankful he was atleast doing something active. You can tear muscles in your sleep for crying out loud.

david bowens hurt his knee changing a light bulb

how probable is it for marino to tear his Achilles from just a bad step. It happens.

there are a lot of ways to tear your acl, i have two fellow receivers on my team and one tore theirs running a simple route by himself with nobody guarding him and the other tore his just blocking... some people wear and tear their knees down throughout the years playing. some people just have knee issues and it doesnt take much to tear something sometimes... it could be something as simple as getting you cleats stuck in the grass while moving the opposite way.

well, when you aren't going 100% it is, in a lot of cases easier to hurt, pull or tear something.

It's wierd how it works but true. When you do anything at less then 100% your body overcompensates and therefor puts more or less pressure on the right or wrong joints, bones, muscles etc....

that's exactly right... and underscores the importance of stretching EVERY joint thoroughly before a workout... not just your hammy...

Some players are simply creampuffs.:fire:

Didnt Jake Plummer break his foot by trying to crack his toes? It's things like this that make records like Favres and Cal Ripkens so amazing.

This wouldn't necessarily apply to Will Poole, but a lot has to do with guys being bigger, stronger, and faster than they used to be. The human body was not designed for the demands of modern sports.

My roommate in college tore his ACL during an intermural volleyball game. He just came down awkwardly then fell to the floor. It can happen to anyone.
