I don't give a rats behind what he did in college games. Those don't count in the NFL. If they did, Timmy Chang would be all-world.
Currently in the NFL, he is 45 of 92. Not even 50% completion rate, and his playing time has been in garbage time.
When he misses, which is more than 5 times out of 10, he misses by 10's of yards.
The rest is just talk. his mechanics and delivery can all be overcome, and maybe it will lead to accuracy...maybe. But, at this point, his accuracy really sucks. Not just a little, but extreme accuracy issues!!!
Hell, Chad Henne is over 60% completion rate.
Even the turnover machine Mark Dirty Snatcho is at 54%... and both these are not coming at garbage time as Tebow's are.
I have seen a fair amount of Tebow already in a Donko uniform (Not sure why, but they sure like to show Donko games here in Dallas) and what amazed me is not that he missed so many, but by how far he missed. Tens of yards is NOT a good sign
I've seen Tebow throw enough spot on passes with zip to know that his arm is good enough. You think that his arm sucks- so be it. It's the same old thing- his arm isn't great, nor is his accuracy, but are they good enough, when combined with all of the other elite qualities that he brings to the table to make him a very good QB?
I think so, and we'll get a preview today. 275 yards, 2pass TD, 1 rush TD, game MVP, Broncos win.
I love a QB with a strong, accurate arm and a quick release. Marino and Elway when they came out of college were just superlative. I absolutely loved Stafford from the first time I saw him play for UG. I saw Marino and Kosar, among others, play at the Orange Bowl/JRS whatever it's called now. They were both deadly accurate, and Marino's release was ridiculous. Sam Bradford is deadly accurate. Drew Brees, too, and I think that Christian Ponder will be added to that list. I'm not floored by Andrew Luck's arm- it's a very good arm, don't get me wrong, but not in Elway's or Marino's league imo. He has somewhat of a slow delivery, more like Jim Kelly imo. And granted Kelly is a Hall of Famer- I'm not trying to be overly critical of Luck, I'm just commenting relative to his buzz and scouting asessments being just about the highest anyone's ever seen. What is beyond hype and criticism is his efficiency- something like 35 of 35 scores in the red zone and 20 TDs? That's pretty amazing.
The point is- being a fan of Tebow, for the most part, goes against the grain of what I like in a QB, particularly in his case the slow/awkward delivery and accuracy issues. And for the umpteenth time I'm not a Gators fan- but you watch the guy play and he just brings it. Forget Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, whoever else you want to bring up in terms of college play- you have to judge the college work by not only the numbers but the quality within the numbers- any jackass can throw for 300 yars in college if he's playing against a slow, horrid defense. When I watched Tebow in college I was always thinking, how does this translate? Case in point Matt Moore- I've been a mild supporter of his despite the Jets debacle, but one throw stood out to me: the red zone out pass to Marshall in the corner of the left end zone. Damn ball took forever to get there. Revis got a hand on it. Compare that pass to the absolute darts that Brady threw at the goal line against us in the 1st game- those passes were ludicrous. I saw the Notre Dame QB yesterday throw an out that made me take notice- the guy just rifled it to the left flat, on target. That's an important throw for a NFL QB or a college one who wants to be a pro QB. But he blew away Matt Moore with that type of throw.
Tebow in some ways doesn't add up, with the delivery/accuracy issues, but when he's on the field he makes it happen. He's a playmaker and a winner. HIs arm is solid enough to get the job done, and I will say that normally I'm harshly critical of QBs with subpar arms (I'm starting to waver on Moore's arm- I like some things, but the dude's arm strength is questionable, as I'm finding out. Worse than I thought.)

We'll see what happens in a bit.
