Tebow on the Trade Block, Miami Dolphins a possibility

As someone who isn't Religious at all, and someone who hates the Florida Gators more than he hates terrorism, I'm a fan of Tim Tebow. It's hard not to like this kid and I would love to see him succeed. And honestly, I wouldn't mind bringing him here but not as a QB or anything like that. Tebow reminds me a lot of Ken Dorsey. Dorsey kept his job with the Browns for YEARS despite being an AWFUL QB simply because he's a smart dude when he has a clipboard in his hands. He was practically the Browns QB coach in Cleveland. He's smart, he understand offenses, he understand defenses and all of that. One day, he'll be a QB coach in this league. Guaranteed.

Tebow has leadership skills. Guys rally around him. He's an Alpha. He's a "locker room guy." He's the kind of guy that you want your teammates taking notes from. But he can't really help you on the field in the NFL. He just doesn't have it. And you could see it in college that his game wouldn't translate to the league. It just doesn't. Same for Pat White. Just doesn't translate. People have to stop watching college football and thinking that because you dominate at that level, you're gonna be ok in the NFL. It's simply not true.

Terrelle Pryor, JaMarcus Russell, Tim Tebow, Ryan Leaf...list goes on and on for guys who won BIG in college football. You know who didn't win big in college football? Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan. Eli Manning might be the smartest and most underrated QB in the league. And people are too busy reading box scores and Yahoo! Fantasy Football statistics to get it thru their empty skulls.

Missed that. Get this loser our of here. Throwing out "Christian haters" and racist comments. WTF

Somebody got their teebows in a wad over the idea of not wanting him on the team.

A lot of shallow minds and Christian haters here!

TEBOW is EVERYTHING that MIAMI hoped P WHITE would be, and then some. He's a glorified Rookie, who put up better #s than most Rookies do. He has size, and can run. His "mechanics" are an issue only if you're expecting to transform him into the next P MANNING, or something.

The Wildcat started failing here once everybody realized that R BROWN wasn't even a mediocre passer. That's why MIAMI drafted P WHITE...the Wildcat is doomed w/o the real threat of the pass. But WHITE was too small to run i/s the Tackles, and MIAMI also made the BIG mistake of trying to correct his "mechanics". Correcting "mechanics" is a REALLY big gamble: it might work or it might not. And once you do so, the person is no longer the player that you drafted! P WHITE's a textbook example: after MIAMI got done fixing his "mechanics", he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn! He wasn't PAT WHITE anymore.

Look at TEBOW. He successfully ran up the middle in a style similar to the Wildcat at FLORIDA. And as an NFL ROOKIE QB, in limited time, he posted very decent numbers (FOR A ROOKIE) at DENVER, a team that isn't exactly a "powerhouse". Sizewise, he's the size of a TE. But mainly he can throw the football, well enough to put up a completion %age of 56% or so, as a Rookie...and a whole lot better than R BROWN ever even dreamed of achieving.

Now, think o/s the box just a little bit. Take MIAMI's Wildcat formation. Put TEBOW in at R BROWN's position, and R BUSH in R WILLIAMS' position (slot, left). Keep the rest of the Wildcat personnel intact, EXCEPT instead of putting PENNY or HENNE at the Left WR position, put MARSHALL there. And then, as they say, "let 'er rip"!!!

THIS Wildcat has CLAWS. Think about it. You've got a Moose/QB who played a similar formation in college (and very well), who can run inside the Tackles, and read defenses, and PASS the football. Instead of RICKY, you've got a "homerun threat" coming in motion, and instead of PENNY/HENNE at the Left WR, you've got MARSHALL. The TE threat (FASANO) is still there, and is now a viable threat w/a legitimate passer, who DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO BE a P MANNING, or BRADY, or MARINO to get the job done. And let's see DCs try to crowd the l/o/s NOW!

If MIAMI can in fact get TEBOW cheap, it should do so. And if it does, do not--repeat DO NOT--try to change his "mechanics". Learn from the PAT WHITE fiasco. And, MIAMI Coaching geniuses, IF TEBOW's MECHANICS bother you so very, very much, then don't get him at all.

After all, we want TIM TEBOW, not tim tebow.

christian haters? lol

im just a fan of NFL quality players... something Tebow on the cheap, or expensive just isnt.

I don't know if he'll ever be a good QB in the NFL or not but as a Christian I'm rooting for him......the guy has never done anything bad like some of the other thugs in the NFL so why do people wish him bad?

Ozzy rules!!

I'm agnostic -- but well said.

Dorsey is currently a scout for the Carolina Panthers

Yeah, I got that. But how long did Dorsey stand on the sidelines in Cleveland holding a clipboard? YEARS. And he was able to do that because he was so smart. He might be a scout now, but he's only 30. That kid will one day be a QB coach. And I guarantee he'll get his start by working for The U.

This thread has gotten severely derailed, but does anyone know the details on Merling's contract... whether he got an accelerated bonus from the Dolphins the way Tebow got one from the Broncos?

I ask because it seems the accepted wisdom has dismissed the idea of a trade because Tebow received a hefty bonus the Broncos would rather not swallow. Well, it stands to reason that if Tebow received his bonus, then every player who was owed a bonus received one. Taking that thought league wide, this would either making trading any player who received a bonus impossible, or it might result in two teams having paid bonuses to players realizing that they can collectively soak up the cash they just paid out knowing that they won't have to pay that cash to the player they're trading for.

Anyhow, if anyone has the details on Merling's contract, that would be helpful. It might serve to get this thread back on track.

Crazy as this may sound. I can picture Tebow leading us to a Super Bowl, more than I could see Henne leading us. Chad Henne just doesn't have the " Dam the topedos, full speed ahead." type of attitude.

Hes not even on the team yet and tebowmania begins....

The guy is a boy amongst men in this league. It must suck to be in his position now, to go from best college football player to worst QB prospect.

Because he's perceived as young, spoiled and unproven, garnered HUGE amounts of media attention, and he felt the 'need' to push his moral agenda...I think those things contributed to the seemingly widespread resentment for the kid.

Although he strikes me as being a nice nice kid, I'm pretty much 'uninterested' in him and always have been. I'm just stating why I think people have an issue with him and wouldn't mind seeing him fail.

Not crazy at all. Short of the other garbage QB who the homers here were so high on in John Beck, it's hard to think of a worse starting QB than Chad Henne at the moment. The better question is who was the worst pick at where they were drafted.

Henne was a total garbage pick. Only a safe-pick fool like Ireland would make that pick. Played with NFL caliber players(including Jake Long) and Manningham in college and did nothing. Only famous for an epic fail vs App State and getting owned by Ohio State. 19/37 and 1-1 vs a Div I-AA school. That clown. Beck was another awful pick in the 2nd. Just awful. Tebow went way higher than he should have thanks to the McHoodie. I'd still take Tebow over the clown Henne any day of the week tho.

whats tebows cap hits/salaries the remainder of his rookie deal look like??? and if you do trade for him do you take on that massive eye sore $6 mil bonus in doing so???

without answers to these questions there's no way i'd trade a wooden nickle for him...
