This is totally jumping the gun, but I'm surprised I haven't even seen it mentioned in any of the many dolphins/manning articles I've read recently. RGIII is no longer an option & some sources believe Peyton going to the Broncos is a serious possibility (I'm discounting arizona because the the salary caps issues). That would more or less leave flynn as the quarterback upgrade option. However, it sounds like Cleveland is willing to spend a sizeable amount of their large cap space on him so the dolphins may not be able to win a bidding war. Plus I don't think Flynn has that "pop" that Ross is looking for. I really think right now he is more interested in making a big splash than necessarily making the best logical football move. The city is getting disinterested with the Dolphins & they can't really compete with fan interest for the marlins new stadium & the 3 kings. Plus he would need to distract the city from the fact that in this scenario he failed his courtship of Fisher, Harbaugh & Manning.
Therefore, I think if Peyton picks the Broncos over the fins we could see Tebow as the starting dolphins quarterback next year. The broncos would want to move Tim, & the price likely would not be out of reach. Peyton insists on taking a huge majority of practice snaps which would not be ideal for developing a quarterback who needs a lot of work. Plus the offense the broncos would run with Peyton would be light years different than the tebow run offense. Wouldn't they prefer a back up that has a skill set more similar to peyton to make a potential transition after injury easier? Plus I think manning is the kind of guy that doesn't want to deal with a quarterback "controversy." I don't think tebow would seriously challenge peyton at all, but tebow-mania is strong amongst fans & some would be calling to see Tebow at the first glimmer of problems with manning.
What landing spot would make more sense for tebow than the dolphins? Ross would surely be excited about bringing Tebow back to florida & the resulting frenzy it would create for ticket sales. I'm not saying I want to see this happen. I'm just saying I think it is a possibility. I think Tebow is hugely overrated & as a NOLE I hate Tebow as a player (all though I do respect what he does off the field). Even I have to admit though the games would be at the very least interesting. Another year of Matt Moore run dolphins would just be too boring to get most people excited.
Just a thought. I still think the Finz have a good shot at manning, because Ross is likely desperate enough to sign manning without seeing a workout
