You can draw some comparisions to these 2, both are are excellant return men Ginn Kick offs ,Hester Punt returns. Hester is starting to grow into a decent WR for the Bears. I wonder if this is the route that needs to be taken with Ginn, let him do what he does best and give him time to grow into a WR role.
I personally do not ever see him as a #1 or #2 WR however he could develop into a slot man or 3rd down specialist. I believe Ginn was thrown into a role he was not ready for yet, and when things started to go bad his ego took a major hit. Hopefully this will be a good first step for a road back for Ted Ginn, only time will tell. At least he earned his pay yesterday......:thanks:
What do you all think........

Ginn had one great game returning kicks. Coming into yesterday he was a bad KR. Let's hold off the hester comparisons until he shows this consistently.

agreed!

One difference is Tedd Ginn is horribly slow to get going but his afterburners are top in the league.

Hester can quickly take off but can not reach the top speed Ginn can.
Hester though has better vision.

It is his 3rd year in the NFL, we can't afford to let him develop or "grow" into a WR role.

I wouldn't say he's been a "bad" kick returner before yesterday. If anything I think he hasn't had enough opportunities because of Cobbs. He did return a punt for a touchdown versus Buffalo a couple of years ago. He also has had others called back. He would have more returns for touchdowns if they just let him return more kicks. Put him on kick return duty full time!

I'd like to see him take on this role full time and see how it pans out. However, I think him being in a WR formation does help our Offense out. We looked pretty bad yesterday and could not get much going with the WR core we had out there.

I was thinking this same thing. Hester can take a hit though, Ginn gets knocked down pretty easy, like by kickers. Great to see Ginn do something!

He's got to get going and hit a seem faster than what he is doing. He half steps until he can find an opening and most of the time the seem isn't going to stay open long enough with the way he "shops" around. He did a great job yesterday on two returns obviously, but the on other returns you could see him sort of fold and collapse once he couldn't find an opening. I sure am glad he was back there yesterday!!!!!

I think Ginn and Hester are going in opposite directions. Ginn started for us as a WR/KR and developed almost exclusively into a WR - a ****ty one, but a WR nonetheless. Now, it seems they believe he can add the most to this team as a player that focuses almost entirely on the return game.

Hester began exclusively as a KR, and now he's developing into a WR/KR. His KR game has obviously suffered.

Ginn's not going to score in the KR game every week, but if he can be a top 5 KR (in college he seemed to have that sort of talent), he'll be of more value to the team than he ever was as a lacking WR.

The big difference between guys like Hester and Ginn is quickness. Hester is both fast and quick--Ginn is a strider and straight line fast. Although I was quite surprised to see Ginn actually making some moves yesterday but he is not quick like Sproles, Hester and Steve Smith, that are all great punt returners. I think this is why ginn is struggling as a receiver and creating space for himself. If he has time to run in open space no one can stay with him, but our QB's have not been getting that kind of time.

As we saw yesterday in the first half this team, with all of it's offensive deficiencies, really needs field position, and Ginn seems our best option on kickoffs. I still like Bess on punts but would like to try Cory Sheets or Chris Clemmons, who is a burner, to see how they do.

hester has better vision and is quicker and fast enough to get by on kicks......I think Ginn could be a great returner or at least better then cobbs but it will hurt our offense to have him off the field because none of our receivers can really get behind the defense and go deep...

We need to keep putting Ginn out there on offense to loosen up those defenses and hitting Ricky more on screens until you determine whether the offensive line has shown up to block someone.

Ginn on kick returns is a no-brainer. Bess should be benched for awhile, in all phases, period.

I think the answer is obvious- only activate Ginn for 2 games a year-the Jets games!Seems to be the only games he shines in. But you know what, I'd carry a guy on the 53 man roster for just those 2 games if I knew he'd guarantee us a sweep of the stinking Jets every year! ;)
