Besides Ronnie Brown (my favorite player) and Chad Henne, what skill position player do we have on offense with more POTENTIAL than Ginn?

The fact is he had 2 good years, and has had a bad first half of this year.

He hustled down the field on that tipped ball last week and caused a fumble.. if the refs didn't have money on that game and made the right call we probably would have beat the Saints...

The simple fact is NONE of our other receivers scare anybody... I'm still holding out for Ginn until we get him some help on the other side. Our receivers flat out suck as a group.. as bad as Ginn has been, can you guys believe this??

1. Ginn has the most yardage of any Dolphins receiver. (#1 on team)
2. Ginn is tied for #1 on the team in TD catches. (with only 1.......)
3. Ginn is averaging 11.7 yds per catch. (#2 on team)
4. Ginn is averaging 9 yards per carry. Everytime he gets a reverse, he makes something out of it. (last year had 2td's rushing)
5. Ginn is the only receiver on our team who draws over the top safety help, and still manages to produce a little.

I'm not defending his year by any means....he has had a bad few weeks.. but the fact is our receivers as a group are probably the worst in the entire NFL and really none of the other ones scare any defenses....

Oh and by the way last year Ginn was #1 on the team in reception yardage and #2 on the team in catches.

I'm just saying.. get this guy some help on the other side and he might really shine, we all already know he is not big/strong enough to be a legitimate #1. (very few are)

Dude has potential...but if he doesn't utilize it, or realize that potential, he's pretty worthless.

Cecil Collins had all sorts of potential too, ditto some other of our first round busts.

I know, but we can't blame him for where he was drafted. Remember he was drafted by the guy who was a missed FG away from being the worst head coach in NFL HISTORY......... I don't think Ginn will ever have the strength to be a #1 receiver, but I think if we put someone on the other side to draw double coverage that Ginn will give defensive coordinators a lot to worry about with his speed... (right now they can simply rotate a safety over since none of our other receivers demand double coverage)

Just to post his stats from last year since they are really pretty decent considering who was on the other side (G.Camarillo....)

Ted Ginn - 56 receptions, 800 yards, 2TDs, 14.1 YPC. Played in one game where he had 7 catches for 175 yds and was almost unstoppable on that day.

That was with penny at QB last year and even less receiving options than we have this year. Those are pretty decent numbers for being constantly doubled...

I'm sorry but those would be very good numbers if he was our #2 instead of our #1. He just isn't big and strong enough to be a "#1" receiver like A.Johnson, Fitz, Moss, TO, Edwards, Marshall etc etc

First off you are defending him!! And if you take away his one good game this year at Indy I believe which he also made bad drops. He probably would not look so good.

And what makes him a favorite player for you anyways?? It's mot like he has really been the most popular guy in Miami. Now if you had said Camarillo or Bess or something I might be able to see it. But Ginn has been so inconsistant. I have had some hard times getting to like him.

And alot of those stats you put up are not good. And I find it hard to believe that Mr Ginn makes something positive out of his reverses. The simple fact that coaches have been talking to him about his game should tell you something. They are not happy with him. Just as alot of us fans aren't.

There you are. With all this abuse Ginn has been taking, I was wondering if you've been working on some furious defense of him and you have. You definitely are defending his year. Which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but don't keep your eyes closed just so you can feel like you're right. Ginn has done nothing to deserve this kind of loyalty from you.

Take your fantasy football numbers elsewhere. This is the NFL. This is big boy football.

I dont know if it was Ngata's hit in the playoff game or if in the off season something traumatizing happened to him. I know he has never liked contact but he is actually scared out there.
It seems to me its not just bad hands he is actually scared out there

Very gutsy thread by McMichael during a time when its so easy to bash on Ginn, and knows he's going to get flamed for it. I've always thought Ginn got an unfair shake around here, and now that he's "earning" it, people are piling on like nobody else I've seen on this site in 8 years(including guys like Fiedler, Eddie Moore, Chambers, AJ Feeley, even Ronnie early on).

Its easy to back the guys that are playing well, but to back a guy that's such an easy target right now shows charachter. When I figure out how to rep you, I will.

As for Ginn, imo he showed continuous improvement for 2years, and leading up to the late TD drop vs Indy. He's had a bad case case of the dropsies since. I hope he snaps out of it, because drops were never an issue with Ginn up until this season. This is mental, imo.

Even if I had any faith in him to be more then a waste of talent he still wouldn't be in my top ten list of favourite players for me.

1. R.Brown
2. C.Henne
3. J.Long
4. R.Williams
5. S.Smith
6. K.Langford
7. L.Polite
8. B.Hartline
9. J.Groves
10. V.Davis

umm what lol? Where exactly did I mention ANYTHING about fantasy football or this not being "big boy football" ??

All I was doing was pointing out that Ginn led our team in almost every single receiving category last year...

??????? I don't understand your reply at all.... I said nothing of fantasy football or of this not being the NFL..... and you're a moderator??

exactly.. up until these past few games he has NEVER been known to be someone who drops the ball often.. but of course on finheaven a few bad games cancels out 2 promising seasons...

Now that we have a QB that can get him the ball deep I still really think Ginn will shine as a #2 receiver in this league. He will cause all sorts of problems if he starts getting single coverage.

I do however believe he needs to be resigned with a major pay-cut to stay with the team, which I think he will do, and be a great #2 for us for many years to come.

You can't coach or teach speed and elusiveness like Ginn has. He is a threat to the defense any time he has the ball in his hands..

We get him a big dominant #1 receiver on the other side and is there anyone here who thinks he WON'T produce? Right now he is being treated as our #1 by every single team we play....

And yes he has had a case of the dropsies for sure but in his first 32 games he was known for being sure handed. Especially last season in the final game vs the Jets where he made an amazing catch to help get us in the playoffs.

But on finheaven, 6 games overrules 32.....
