My friend told me that he was watching some football program on television and they showed the route that Ted Ginn ran on the final play and he said that Ginn burnt the guy with a nasty move and was open but by the time Pennington threw to him it was too late. He said he was open in the corner before the pass. I didn't see this other angle so I can't say but I was wondering if anyone else saw this.

Oh i totally believe that Ginn was open when Pennington threw the ball. I mean he seemed sure of it when he stepped up to throw it.

That probably is true - obviously, Ginn was outside and Revis was inside, which means Ginn did beat Revis. If Pennington had any arm to deliver the ball quickly enough (and vision/awareness to find him quickly enough), the game is in Dolphins' hand, not the other way around. So what does Chaddyboy do? Yep. He throws an arc, which flies in eternity to get to the receiver. By then, Ginn was completely boxed out. Next thing you know, INT by Revis, and PI on Ginn. INT or no INT, the game is over by then - PI is usually 15 yard penalty, so that means Pennington has to throw eye-whopping 33 yard (if you count the extra 10 yards in the end zone, that makes the trajectory roughly 38-40 yards, which Pennington just cannot do)

Ginn was not by any means wide open. He had single coverage so Pennington threw to him. Pennington got hit and ball floated. Yes the ball was thrown late, and it's unfortunate we did not manage the clock better and have more time plus our timeouts.

Um Zach, the ball was picked off. How far Pennington can throw is moot. The anemia of the offense is not due to Pennington. The Jets had 9 guys within 3 yards of the LOS most of the day, basically daring our outside receivers to get open. They can't.

if ginn would have stoped the INT we would have had one more shot at the end zone and Pennington should have just thrown that away anyways

I timed the play and from the snap Pennington waited 3.37 seconds before throwing the ball and the ball didn't get to Ginn until 5.5 seconds later. Anything could have happened between that. From the TV angle we have absolutely no idea what route Ginn ran.

Exactly. From watching the replay Ginn was already behind Revis, it's not like Revis cut in front of him at the last second.

It was a good play by revis, all day thier CB did a good job on our young receivers. Even tho we lost the game i thought that we did some good things on both sides of the ball. keep in mind that our offense still needs to play together more to creat chemistry. We were in this game to the last second, i only wish that were able to run the ball a little more effectively.

Pennington was heavily pressured on that play if I remember correctly so he was more than likely on the run and just looking for anything.

EDIT: WOOOT!! 1000th post!

I'm not blaming Pennington for the late throw I'm just curious what the actual route was that Ginn ran. Does anyone who was there know?

It's not about getting the ball far and deep - Pennington is actually very good at that. Soft touch at the end of the 45 yard bomb - that's vintage Pennington. You run your butt off, beating the coverage, then the ball softly falls on your hand. You can't drop that one, I can almost guarantee you.

What he can't do is to fling the ball with authority; he can't send the ball in a tight spot, like any AVERAGE ARMED QUARTERBACKS should be able to. He can't rifle the ball even when he sees a tiny separation. That's what I am talking about.
