Reading conflicting reports of when Ted Larsen can return to the team and play. One source said he's eligible to play in the Ravens game. Then I read he's not eligible to return until AFTER week 8. I know TJ McDonald is restricted to 8 full games, but I thought Larsen coming off the 1/2 IR list, gets to comeback earlier.

Anyone know the real deal on this?

Here's the url for the above quote:

He is eligible to practice as of last week. I think he can play as soon as he can. Short term IR is 6 weeks, I could be wrong but we also have a few weeks to activate him.

The nfl changed the rule. You can return after week 8

"The new rule modifies a 2012 reform that allowed teams to activate a single player from the IR once he’d spent at least eight weeks on the inactive list. Originally, these players had to be labeled as “designated to return” candidates at the time they were placed on IR — and the tag could only be used once. In 2016, a rule modification allowed teams to save that tag until a player was ready to take the field once more."

So the question becomes, when was Larsen put on IR? I think it was before the final preseason game, so according to the letter of the law, he's already spent 8 weeks on the injured list?

But I did read while he was eligible to practice last week. He didn't. So maybe he's not healthy yet

He is eligible to play next week against the Raiders, but he has not been able to practice yet because he is not healthy enough to do so. There was a report last week that said he was close but not ready yet. Hopefully, he can start practicing next week.

With Steen out, it sure would help to have him back. Personally, I would love to try Asiata, just to blood him in and have a taste of what that looks like in the run game. Then when/if Larsen heals up, see if Asiata or Larsen can replace Bushrod, who has been terrible.

If we give Jesse Davis a chance, I'm OK with that, because this season he seems to have improved his game significantly over previous years ... but at the end of the day, our highest ceiling guys are Asiata and Larsen. Obviously, every player we've played all year has an incredibly low floor ... because mostly that's where their play has been ... around their floor.

I agree on Asiata...

Love the "blood him in"...

He must really look ineffective in practice to not have demanded a single activation this season yet...

You also seem to be higher on Larsen then I am...

Crossing my fingers that we see another huge jump for Jesse Davis, but not holding out much hope...

Bushrod as Hoops would say, "Pillow Fight".....
