Tell me again how Tannehill is a bust.

Sorry, Tannehill hasn't done anything today to say that he is going to be anything. His deep balls are terrible. Missing Hartline at the end of the game with 2:00 left was brutal. running out of bounds afterwards was equally brutal. we had awesome field position on our 2nd last drive. a TD would given us some comfort, but as usual, he couldn't lead us to the end zone.

I know everyone wants to get all excited about him, but he's no ray Lucas, but at the moment, he's not as good as Jay Fielder either.

And that's just sad.

He has the same potential to be a bust as he does to be a decent QB. He'll never be elite.

Is he a bust right now? No? Okay. Bye bye.

First, it's "reins".

Second. this thread is decrying those who think Tannehill is a bust. That's it. Because that just annoys the #### out of me.

Don't tell me what I do and don't think. Because the first thing I thought was, "why do most of our posters not understand the difference between 'reigns' and 'reins?'"

For someone acting like a grammar Nazi it's pretty funny that you are flat out wrong in your correction.

rein
noun
plural noun: reins
1. a long, narrow strap attached at one end to a horse's bit, typically used in pairs to guide or check a horse while riding or driving.

noun
plural noun: reigns
1. the period during which a sovereign rules.
"the original chapel was built in the reign of Charles I"
synonyms: rule, sovereignty, monarchy More

Unless in your infinite wisdom you thought I meant that Tannehill deserved to have a long, narrow strap attached to his horse.

who ever said he was a bust? so far hes an average qb with a 12-14 career record. he has moments of brilliance and equal moments of henne. that missed pass to hartline late could have easily cost us the game. i wouldnt even say hes close to a franchise qb yet, hes not in the same class as pennington but more in the jake locker, christian ponder, ej manuel and any other young qb who has a lot of developing and growing to do. my eyes tell me no way he'll ever be elite but i hope im dead wrong.

Bad:

- The interception. Fooled by the coverage. Nice play by the defense. Still a lousy interception.
- Missed Wallace deep.
- Missed Hartline on that late play.
- Went out of bounds on the last play before the punt at the end of the game. Maybe that's only a four second difference, but we'd just seen him have the presence of mind to stay in bounds.

I haven't changed my mind. Let him continue to develop. And... GET HIM A REAL QUARTERBACK COACH.

Interceptions happen. Dierdorf explained how the DB broke back into coverage and made a nice play.

The deep ball to Wallace. Agreed.

The ball to Hartline, to me it looked like Hartline pulled up a bit short as opposed to running to the sideline. Can't be sure though.

Running out of bounds on the last possession. He was looking to pass the whole time and was at the sidelines. Maybe it's difficult to run to the sideline looking to pass and then suddenly have the presence of mind to fall down inbounds. He did it the play before b/c he was running with no intent to pass.

Actually anyone can do it, given the requisite knowledge.

Of course. But it's very, very easy to slant the stats you use in your arguments, based on the point you're attempting to make.

Do we really need to do this again?

There's a thread on this site dedicated to him being a bust.

There's actually a thread titled "Tannehill is a bust." It made me laugh.

The thread title is also misleading. Makes it sound like Tannehill played a fantastic game and proved doubters wrong or something. He played okay today but was nothing special either. I'm good with Tannehill for now but lets not act like he came out and dominated or anything.

I'm trying to be fair here. Those were definitely bad plays.

The problem with this offense really is that there is no margin for error at all. Ryan Tannehill essentially has to be perfect, because no one else is. And that's ridiculous. I don't see any "Hartline is a bust" threads today even though he was ****ing terrible out there on several key plays.

No actually, no one can do it... Football stats are interesting for sure, but there are to many variables to rely solely on them like in any other sports... You can try to make your point using them like you do in every thread you create, but the reality is its always going to be subjective given the complexity of the sport..,.

I like Tannehill, but he did make 2 costly mistakes at the end of the game that could have lost the game.

1. he missed a wide open Hartline to move the chains.
2. ran out of bounds on 3rd down, preserving the clock and a timeout for the Chargers.

He had a good game, but he did have a few glaring, potentially costly errors, including the aforementioned, the pick, and the deep ball miss to Wallace.

If he got down in bounds wouldn't San Diego have just let the clock run to 2 mins so they have 2 timeouts left?

Tell me what Peyton Manning's first two years were like and get back to me.
