The Miami Dolphins have been up and down this season, which is reflected in their 2-3 record.

Here are 10 surprising statistics to help explain Miami's season through five games:
  • Miami is a below average team at home. The Dolphins are just 5-6 in their last 11 games at Sun Life Stadium.
  • Miami rookie receiver Jarvis Landry is currently second on the team with 18 receptions, which is ahead of starting tight end Charles Clay (17) and starting receiver Brian Hartline (16).
  • Dolphins starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is on pace for 3,625 yards, 25.6 touchdowns and 16 interceptions this season.

The most surprising stat for me at this point is the defense is second in net yards per attempt. That number is shocking considering all three of our "sucky" starting linebackers went down week one and we had 3 of our key defenders serving suspensions, and even our reserve linebackers were nicked up too. The defense is also ranked 8th against the run.

Passing NY/A
Defense 5.4 Rank: 2nd
Offense 5.5 Rank: 29th

Rushing Y/A
Defense 3.8
Offense 5.0

Our 4th DE off the bench is a key defender

Jordan? Yeah he blows but if you polled finheaven before the suspension he likely would have been considered our 3rd or 4th best player on defense by the fans.

Tannenbaum's numbers would be good in 1991 but not today. Let's see 4,000 yards, 30+ TDs and a QBR north of 90.

Like I suggested earlier. Team is basically average everywhere. There is not a game winning aspect about this team. But the criticisms still irk me. I OPENLY WATCH 7-10 GAMES A WEEK. AND I SEE AVERAGE WITH STUPID COACHING EVEEYWHERE

Sorry for the caps drunk and on a phone.

Eager to see how Tannehill pulls off that .6 TD pass.

Is that where YOU would rank him?

No. I did have high hopes that he could push Vernon at the very least and that the staff had a plan to get him and Vernon on the field together more, and I think that is part of the reason the 5-2 formation was born for us.

Regardless though, I thought the defense would be OK, probably better than most on here and being ranked 2nd is a surprise even for me. It should be a heart attack inducing type shock for most on here, especially considering all the injuries to the LBers.

Put it this way: Our defense has made all of our opposing QBs look like Ryan Tannehill on average, that includes two hall of famers, and that is pretty ****ing amazing if you ask me.

There's a lot I don't like about Coyle, but to be fair, I guess that he's doing a decent job overall with the available talent. This team has done okay defensively ever since Jimmy Johnson was in charge, but the offense was always the problem and still is. Hickey appears to be an upgrade over Ireland thus far, so hopefully the next HC will run a more efficient offense than Philbin.

I'm talking about before the season, I don't think anybody thought Jenkins would even play much let alone be a top 5 player on the team.
