Ten Thoughts on First Half of Panthers Preseason Game

Objective reviews are few and far between; it's quite a refreshing read. Bush gave me a lot more than I expected. Henne didn't have a bad game, which is a welcomed change, but this was Carolina. Before I rephrase anything else you said into my own words, I'll just say thanks for the write up.

I thought Pouncey did OK, but was not dominate like his brother is. He had a lot of stalemates, got beat a few times, but never saw him completely dominate his man.

I agree CK. I have wanted to see Garner at RG for a long. Either move Carey out to RT or cut him. The way Murtha is run blocking, I say we slide him over to start at RT and cut Carey.

Long - Incognito - Pouncey - Garner - Murtha

Colombo is not playing well and Carey at RG is not going to be pretty. I do really like the zone blokcing schemes we saw though.

i sure hope brian daboll is watching these bills lbs cover the backs out of the backfield in the passing game...reggie bush could have a field day against these guys

That lb corps is looking really bad. They might end up having the worst d in the league this year

CK covers all angles - this was to be expected - lke a multiple choice quesrion "D" cover everything just in case these players actually pan out - what you folks are seeing is that Henning was truly outdated on the ol shelf life

Are you suggesting that CK does not make clear how he stands?......I disagree, his opinions on players are crystal clear.

He clearly states that he doubts Henne will ever develop any consistency...if I'm misreading this please correct me CK? I agree, I think Henne is an up and down player that will never be what you want in a championship quarterback.

I seen it more then once were he took his assignment out the play completely. He is going to be as good as advertised i believe. Guy had a good game. Not great. BUT veryyyy solid.

Right side still needs some help. I think tht is over blown currently as well though will need to see another game. Im rooting for Murtha to step into the RT spot. This guy had some mental errors but other than those which are fixable he was more then solid. Good upside there.

For anyone to think that a third year start qb will never develop any consistency is out right crazy. Young players get better all th time. So to make a statement like that is not understanding the dynamics of the qb position.

truth is no one knows what henne will develop into.

at this point in time, i feel like this is the best we can get out of henne. played a decent game but i am afraid that might be his ceiling.

i disagree, henne improves with every game. I have seen it since the first day he stepped on the field in a dolphins uni. What worrys me about henne is his dicision making at times which cost us many wins last year. Maybe what this young man needed was an offensive coordinator on his side, dan henning was never on his side, daboll will be.

Pouncey may not wind up to be as good as his brother, but let's afford the kid some time. Same with Thomas. I think we tend to lose sight of the fact that these guys have been Dolphins for only about 3 weeks now. They're quite a bit behind where rookies would ordinarily be at this time.

I thought Pouncey was great. The scale of the job he did at times in terms of opening holes, considering he is not yet physically in his prime was impressive.

Details like the snaps and the goal line work will come. I couldnt grade the guy down at all because we are looking at a total rookie who is already not just an improvement over his predecessor, but looks to be lifting the whole line with his work ethic and attitude. Imagine what he'll be like with a season under his belt.

I just think anyone who criticises Bush for dancing is asking the guy to cut out the thing that makes him special and hard to take down. For every play where he maybe misses yardage by shuffling instead ofmgoing for it, there are three he never would have made if he hadn't been juking guys out of their socks. You can't have one without the other - it's total nitpicking.

Agree with ck on Henne and the defense.

I think Thomas is maybe just a little starstruck and overloaded with info right now to be worth grading. He's competing with Reggie Bush for runs, has been hampered in his development by the short offseason and the early travails of the oline. I think he hasn't settled down yet and when he has we'll see if it was a good choice. It's a very different pressure fighting for a roster spot like Livas or Wilson than it is being anointed a load-carrying starter. It's possible Bush ends up splitting carries with Hilliard but I think Thomas knows it's his job to lose and that's a different kind of pressure at this level- expectations are higher.

I wonder if Murtha might make a better RG than Carey and slide Vernon back over. I think Murtha's production deserves a starting berth and I have a feeling he and Pouncey might get a real partnership going. Garner just doesn't do it for me, though anything is better than seeing Columbo out there.
