Terrell Owens v. Chad Johnson

Terrible comparison. Here you have a WR ocho cinco who is coming off a superbowl contender who was in the superbowl last year and would have done much better had the team got him more involved. I think ocho cinco was in belichicks dog house awhile before playoffs even started, i think belicheck believed he wasnt as commited as belicheck had hoped he would be when he arrived in new england. Therefore, he was never really a key player on that offense like someone thought he was going to be. With all that said, he still had the tools and traits to do be a true threat on that team but i think with belicheck commitment comes before anything, speed, str, all that those stuff is great but i think he puts commitment and intelligence before anything. Not saying chad ocho isnt intelligent and commited but while in new england, he struggled to even learn the playbook which threw belicheck off.

Now, terrell owens, hasnt been a threat in this league since the cowboys let him go, hes gotten slower, and im sure he is not half the player he use to be. T.o just doesnt have the tools anymore, the commitment seems to still be there because of money problems but anyone who watched t.o in cincy would agree that he can no longer be relevant in this league anymore. Seatlle is adding him for depth at the position, nothing more nothing less. I doubt he sees the field until injurys occur.

My answer is, ochocinco clearly has the much better year. Ocho is under a contract that he needs to perform to get paid the bonuses of the contract, im not sure how t.o contract is but im pretty sure ireland knew what he was doing when signed ocho. He has to perform at a high level to reach the contracts high level and big bonuses.

Owens had the better year when he and ocho were teammates in Cincy in 2010.

Both are great talents that are well past their prime, I don't think it is realistic to expect their old(young) selves this season but I'm sure both will contribute to the their teams.

I could see them putting up similar stats but, like some others have mentioned, I'd rather have Chad on this team.

I saw the video of T.O's workout. Looks pretty darn good to me.

Is Drew still his agent?

Disagree and here's why.
You say that Ocho was underutilized in NE because he was in the doghouse... OK, and whose fault is that? If you serve a purpose on a football team, Belichick will find it and use it. Last year, Chad couldn't learn the playbook and he was useless through no one else's fault but his own.
T.O. was very productive and still showed elite speed in '09 with Buffalo despite garbage at QB, and he was (fairly inarguably) better than Ocho in Cincy. T.O. has always been a better player than Ocho, he's much better athletically, and he hasn't caused any sort of disturbance in years. The fact that he ran a 4.45 yesterday, while Johnson hasn't really separated himself from Legendu Nanee thus far in camp is pretty telling.
IMO Johnson has proven himself to be finished, while i would hesitate to doubt the athletic prowess of T.O. even at 38.

Disagree about Ochocinco being uncommitted....He had to learn the most complicated playbook in the NFL...... WITHOUT A TRAINING CAMP!!!!!!

With Welker, Branch and Gronk and Hernandez all with multiple years under the system with Brady, that made Chad the 5th option.

With us he is a #1 or #2 option

Also thoough TO was great, 38 years old for a WR is OLD and out of the NFL for close to a year....Chad is not young but can still be a very productive WR at 33

I don't think Terrel Owens has much left in the tank. 38? He may be fast out of pads and on a track, but there's a lot more to playing a full, effective season than speed..

Let's see where T.O. is after a week of making cuts. Running fast in a straight line is one thing, running a crisp 5 yard out is another. I think it's 1-1 that T.O. doesn't even make it to opening day.
Sour grapes'd

In 2010 (to me the last year that either T.O. or Chad played football) T.O. outperformed Chad in every single possible statistical category. The idea that T.O. is done and Johnson has something left really makes 0 logical sense knowing what we know.

That's true, but I think Johnson will have decent to good numbers by seasons end, past his prime or not, but it will also be benificial that he will not come close to being as big a cancer as players like Owens and Holmes have proven to be, and expected to continue to be.

It makes sense if you consider that TO is 4 years older than Chad, and past the age at which virtually every other WR not named Jerry Rice that has played in the NFL has been productive.

I agree with Junc, as teamates in 2010 Owens was better than Ocho playing in Chad's system. I also agree with the poster who said neither will do so much better than the other in the upcoming season to make this debate worth our time. At this point we're splitting hairs.

The local radio station here is claiming T.O. ran a 4.45 while trying out at the Seahawks before they signed him. I have a hard time believing that but if true his knee must be ok.

.

WOW that is some awful reasoning.

I love how jealous certain people are of these two men. I hope they both do well, doing what they both love to do.

Others can post on message boards about them, and watch them while sitting at home living unfilled boring lives.

People making fun of T.O being broke, his broke is still more money than you will ever have. His broke still provides for him to live a great lifestyle, travel the world and have the things he needs, wants and likes. You wish you were broke like him.
