Terry Shea for possible OC?

If the only canidate left was my girlfriend... the idea of Mularkey would still look horrible...

Shea isn't much better than Mularkey. Come on Cameron, you can do better than that.

if he is going to call the plays then all he needs is a guy to help him with game planning

either get a brilliant young college coach or let Mularkey do it

I agree with Lisle as well. If Cameron is calling the plays does it matter who the OC is?

Plus, the article saids QB's coach/OC. That could mean either or both. I wouldn't mind having Shae as our Qb's coach. I've seen Trent Green pick apart the Dolphins one too many times.

I would like a young, up and coming coach as OC but those guys wanna stake their claim and Cam Cam is the sherrif round these here parts.

Yes, although the OC may not be calling the plays, the HC may relys heavily on him to do alot of film work and game planning to find the plays that will work best against the upcoming defense. While the HC works with the entire team.
So if the OC isn't good at game planning the HC is gonna have a rough day calling plays.

Another senerio could be that the HC does alot of the film work and and the OC runs the team through the plays and works closer with the offense. But then you still gotta have a guy that you can rely on to be a good OC.

You don't think Shae can be that guy?

60 years old has to bring a plethora of experience IMO, but I don't know enough about the guy to know whether he's right or wrong for the job.

I always thought it was the defense that kept KC from being elite, the offense use to be there.

that was kinda understood

if you think we are gonna find a great game planner at this stage, you are kidding yourself

someone like Shea should be able to help Cameron to game plan

What are you basing this on though?

I'm not being argumentative, I just want to know how you came by this opinion to pehaps help me in mine.

I am basing it on Cameron having to devote most of his time to the offense

I guess Mularkey would be just as capable as Shea

the new OC is going to be a glorified aide who either is an old NFL hand or a young guy to be mentored. either way Cameron is going to have a major hand in both game planning and play-calling. its not a great situation, but until he finds/develops the right guy we won't have a real OC

So you're saying we're pretty much stuck any way you put it but it doesn't really matter since Cam is holding the reigns?

Well thanks a lot Lisle. I could have told you that. :D J/k

It is extremely late in the game for addressing the OC position.

Shae will do fine. His experience will be a bonus and his age will keep him in his place(not to be a jerk but young guys are more likely to make moves if ya know what I mean).

Where did I say that Shae couldn't be the guy? You said With Cam calling the plays does it matter who the OC is. My response was it still very well could matter depending on the senerio. The gave different senerios.

But it may not matter if all Cam is gonna do is coach the offense. But if that's the case then you as a HC better trust the people you bring in to coach. Otherwards you'll find yourself micro managing instead of coaching and then again it circles back around to it does matter who the OC is.

I don't know enough about Shae to say if he is the guy or not, but just having 60 years of experiance doesn't make him the best fit either.

his only experiance as a OC was with a Bear team that had simply awful personnel, perhaps he deserves a shot. he did a nice job with Huard

Shea is very well respected as a QB coach. His work with Trent Green especially needs to be documented.
