Normally quiet and reserved, Andre Johnson could barely contain his excitement about new teammate Eric Moulds on the first day of Houston Texans minicamp Wednesday.

The addition of Moulds, traded from Buffalo in April, gives Houston another credible receiving threat for the first time as Johnson enters his fourth season. And perhaps more importantly, Moulds provides the 25-year-old standout with a veteran to emulate for the first time in his career.

"You want to come in and have somebody to look up to to teach you the ropes," Johnson said. "My first few years I had to do that on my own because I had guys who were just the same age as I was. Now I got Eric here and anytime I have a question I can go to him and ask him about it and he'll help me out."

Johnson raves about how much Moulds has already helped him, relaying a story about how he showed him a better way to run a route the first time they practiced together in the offseason.

"When you have a guy who can coach you when the coach is not out here, it helps you out a whole lot," Johnson said.

The two were rarely seen apart during Houston's more than two-hour practice, and were all smiles when being interviewed together after it concluded.

"I see a guy that hasn't really had an opportunity to reach his potential," Moulds said. "I told him when I first got here, I think he can be the best receiver in this league. And it's my job as a receiver on the other side to help him get there."

This is definately a different personality for Moulds im surprised he hasn't spit on his Defensive backs yet!

lol me too. He seems to be a good mentor for Johnson. Maybe because a new atmosphere has changed his personality, hell I would be pissed all the time if I played for the Bills!

EMo has always been a team-first guy and a mentor to young receivers. Last year he took it upon himself to speak up for the veterans who wanted Losman replaced by Holcomb -- and got in Mularkey's doghouse.

BTW, I think spitting on DBs is in the lessons in TC. :sidelol:

Im not a big Moulds fan. but I do like Johnson. Im sure he likes having him, maybe free him up a little, if carr could ever have time to pass
