Text Message Ban might not last that long.

Supposedly it was one of Meyer's strong points in recruiting! :wink:

Seriously, I can't imagine why this is not allowed. I mean any coach can get unlimited texting for $10/month. Are there really schools that can't afford an extra $120 a year? :shakeno:

It's not about the money on the school's side, it's about the contact with recruits. Coaches shouldn't be able to text like crazy. I've known recruits, I've seen the crap that is sent to them on their phones. If phone calls are limited/illegal, texts should be too since they are both being used to convey the same messages. Should've been deemed illegal years ago.
 
this kid at my school got 1,000 texts from recruiters every 2 days or something insane like that while he was in class

I don't know. I am still thinking this is not that big of deal. Maybe limit the length/amount of text messages. The wireless providers keep plenty of records.

As for getting text messages in school, You are supposed to have your phones OFF in school anyway. Secondly, MOST phones have an inbox with a limit of something a LOT less than 1000. Usually closer to 100.
 
Players do also start relationships with these coaches. I think there should be a rule that asks the player if he would like to recieve text message from someone or not. Or something like that anyway
