Does everyone realizes what a favor Fritz Pollard Alliance did for the Dolphins and it's fans? If you don't, I will explain. If Stephen Ross had any ideas of bringing in a puppet for Dana Aponte or Joe Failbin, FBA just blew up that plan. It doesn't matter what race the GM candidate may be. The GM should have a say in personnel decisions or he would be useless. Ross was forced to publicly come out and tell EVERYONE that the next GM WILL have a real purpose in his position. Dolphin fans have caught a another break.

Don't get too excited about the FPA did here - now you know about it - debunking the canard laid by the Armando rumor mongering fools version of this process. But rest assured it was always this way.

Well it was already reported that the new GM was NOT going to report to Aponte or anything like that. The SPECULATION about a football czar came about because Steve Ross didn't actually fire Jeff Ireland. He neutered him, and Jeff quit.

I don't think Ross ever intended to go the route of a Czar or something like that. I think this entire situation came up because Steve decided that he didn't want to wait for the Wells Report to fire Jeff for cause and decided to force him out now by humiliating him. Which is also probably why Jeff has been feeding Armando scoops about how awful Aponte and Philbin are, etc.

But I still think the FPA did us a huge favor by forcing Ross to make a definitive statement and debunk all of the speculation being churned out there by Jeff Ireland's fan club in the Herald newsroom.

and he would have got away with it too- if it wasn't for those meddling kids...

Oh please. They bought into a rumor and made a complete ass headed suggestion. They could have called the Dolphins to have that clarified. There was never ever any hint nor any suggestion nor any personal movement by the Dolphins which would have indicated anything else than what Ross has stated today.

If I would be Dolphins owner I would actually withdraw access for guys like Armando. It is one thing to write about critical stuff but is a complete different story if you bring out a bunch of lies. What Armando has done is libel, not only towards the organization but also against individual people. And everybody who bought into that scheme and helped distribute it (willfully or not) should be ashamed. I count FPA into that.

NO. I do not thank them. They actually lost credibility with me.

EDIT: one more thing
I am also disturbed that an organization like the FPA does not understand the function of a football czar. I understand that the average fan doesn't understand it and I am sure Armando has no clue but a football czar is usually an advisory or mentoring role for young GMs and does not carry any hiring or firing function. Here on this board Gamble is highly touted. And people have no clue that the Eagles actually have a czar. He bears title of an adviser and is guiding a young Howie Roseman who is the youngest GM in the NFL. The advisors name: Donahoe

As a matter of fact I suggested to have Polian as an adviser to a young GM for the Dolphins.

100% Agree, I wanted to write something to this effect but I didn't have the energy. Thanks for saving me the trouble.

There was no reason that this had to be handled publicly.
Either Wooten was stupid enough to think, when he spoke to The Herald about, that it would not be immediately used as part of Mando's slander campaign against the fins.

or more likely...

He was deliberately trying to pigeon hole the fins into creating a more attractive position for his "guys" by drudging in the race card.
This is unacceptable and well out of bounds of the purview of the FPA, since all candidates white and black would be subject to the limitations of how Miami wanted to frame its GM position.

This my last bit of ranting from the subject.
One could make a loose connection between Farmer being unclear at the power structure -> asking Wooten for advice/ -> Who tells him he will shake the bushes down there to get an answer from Miami by leaking this disapproval by FPA.

We're facked if we get another GM who calls the shots. The "collaboration" part in the Ross's statement gives me hope. Philbin needs to call the shots. This team is his deal and the success of the team is on his shoulders. A GM with a philosophy of his own is the wrong GM. The only philosophy that matters is Philbin's philosophy. A GM who has ideas he wants to implement is the wrong GM. That kind of GM will only create rift and cacophony of ideas, and directly undermine the efforts at success. It's not good enough to hire the best GM ever. The most important thing is to hire a GM who will be picked by and in service to Philbin. That way, there is direct responsibility for failures. The goal and the single focus of every person in the building there should be to serve Philbin and help him implement his plan.

The GM should do what a gm does, the coach should decide on cuts going into the regular season and who plays as well as who his assistants are
