and why didn't we pursue Doug Pederson as coach. I thought that made great sense, as connection to Phins. Former QB and superbowl winning HC and of course offensive minded. From #1 Seed for a few days to the big collapse. And McD and his play calling , time mgmt and the retention of Flores hold overs Def Coord and Sp Team Coords are on these 2. No CAP room no Draft Picks. I guess the TANK was a real plan but just to stay tanked. Crazy how bad this franchise is and how poorly ran up and down the org.
 
Bingo!!! DP was the easiest slam dunk, no brainer, back up the truck, whatever you want you got it missed decision in team history.

You have a SB winning coach and you go for the unproven coordinator. Someone needs to own that decision if Grier was the one in the way GTFO. That dumb mfr has left us without draft picks and in salary cap hell.
 
we are even worse than our final record will be as we had no reason to have won that Ravens game and maybe even the first Bills game. What appeared to be steps forward wound up steps backwards. We tried our new "wildcat" Quick timing strikes as Tua's only quality, but when teams take that away, he's as bad as we thought and still made of glass like he was at bama.

cant say the opposite as we cant close a game. Even up 30-0 against Houston we got blanked and gave up 15. In those close 4th quarter games we never were really in it because we cant close. The Viking are 11-0 this season in games less than 1 score. we cant even hold a lead or pull away

We're about .500 with holding leads vs. not holding leads. In fact that's exactly what we are. So yes, a lot of those games could have gone either way

What if we rehire Flores? We leave McDaniel in charge first half of the season then shift to Flores second half. We let Flores replace Boyer as well. We could be unstoppable.
 
Biggest collapse was 9-2 start followed by 5 losses and no playoffs in 1993. This is a close second though to go from 8-3 to no playoffs.

Stephen Ross is the problem. Not for lack of funding, but because he has NO clue how to operate a sports franchise. He fires a HC, but keeps the GM or he keeps the HC and fires the GM. Constantly trying to mesh guys who may not even be on the same page to begin with. He has a team President who is a marketing guy. Garfinkel is concerned with ticket sales and what logo or uniform the Dolphins will be playing with. .

If anyone knows Ross, tell him to hire a PROFESSIONAL football guy to run the football side of the business. Entrust this professional to hire a quality GM and HC. Give the team some stability.

Blame Ross all you want but this collapse this season belongs to Grier and McD
They took the jobs, they didn’t perform

Not to get political but it looked good in the eyes of the media to hire a biracial coach after the whole Flores fiasco. Not saying it’s the primary reason McDaniel got hired but it could have potentially contributed to why we passed on a coach with a pedigree like DP

Fng Grier is the only common denominator left in this multiple decade debacle. Ross please take your head especially your ears out of your ass and get rid of this idiot

No doubt they didn't perform. Neither did Philbin, Gase, Ireland, or Tannenbaum. Flores was the best of the bunch, but no OC could ever work with him (nor any other coaches from what I can tell). Now, what is the one constant in all of these failed coaches and GMs?

Does any quality owner hire Grier to the GM job? A guy with 20 years in the same organization that has consistently failed at the draft and in free agency?

Did McDaniel get an interview with any other team in the league this offseason?

Ross needs to see his forte is real estate, not the evaluation of football front office personnel.
