for starting the domino effect that brought an end to the wannstedt/spielman regime. if ricky hadn't bailed we would have seen another 8-8 9-7 season where ricky got his 400 carries while taking a beating and we just missed the playoffs, buying dave yet another year because wayne is a pushover and wanny would have played his "not my fault" card crying boston got hurt, seau got hurt, bowens, chester and fiedler got hurt and aj was new to the system.

now we have a real nfl head coach who has surrounded the organization with top notch people like houck, linehan and mueller. d boss saw this and turned down a more lucractive offer to catch passes from mcnair and returned to south florida, and now ricky is coming back too, fresh, and having added longevity to his career by avoiding a 3rd straight season of 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

dave wannstedt is a great guy. a real nice guy. but a joke as an nfl head coach. ricky declined to take a beating for wanny and his high school OC chris foerster and i'm glad he did. 5 years of wanny's crap was more than enough. so, thank you, ricky, for not standing for mediocrity and saying the hell with this crap. now the garbage has been taken out and we can get back to playing football in south florida at a respectable level.

I hated that 3 yard a pile of dust play. I hated the fact that Dave thought we could run over people just because we had RW. Even when they had 8 men in the block, Dave still ran it, over and over and over! Can't blame RW for walking away.

I dont think that situation was the reason for Ricky quitting.I think it was something he had been thinking about for a long time .It was an excuse to quit.It remains to be seen if he has gotten it out of his system.

That's hogwash...The RW situation was just the straw that broke the team...Wanny's fate was sealed when he never adjusted the offense for the lack of RW and then he stayed with Ears instead of Feeley...I can't say that Feeley was a better or worse choice, AJ never got the opportunity, but that is when Wayne must have decided that Wanny was going...then, of course, the whole team fell apart and Wanny spared Wayne from having to fire him...Wanny was a nice guy and a good defensive coach...he was an extremely poor manager of his players and was basically clueless in the business end of running the team...
