Thanks for the help Olindo - not / Mare info

Mare is quickly becoming my least favorite player on this team. It's not like we were asking for a ton here, we just wanted him to earn a little bit of his coin through making him actually make 40 yd FG when our team is up by 6.

Of course, he'll quickly become my fave player if he makes a game winning 50 yarder. :bandwagon

Geez, have we all gotten so bored that we're relagated to discussing our kicker's salary now?? This is just getting sad...we need some football!!

We've got to do something.

And this is the kind of thing that started the argument in the first place.

If you want to get mad at players for not restructuring than use this.

Wide receiver James McKnight and right guard Todd Perry also refused requests to restructure their contracts.

IMO all kickers should sign contracts and only be paid some weighted average of their base salary based on the number of FGs made and PATs made - generally speaking

That is not right to say that. What about block punts and bobbled snaps? Those will dramatically affect a kickers numbers.

Well, there's always Ronan O'Gara....

(btw D39 thats a pretty good idea you're right about K and P having control like that)

He did that against Denver this year....

6:28 PT: Alex Marvez reports for the Sun Sentinel Miami Dolphins PK Olindo Mare does not want to restructure his contract. An NFL source said Mare declined a request to convert roughly $400,000 of his $1.5-million base salary into an incentive package so the Dolphins could create additional cap room.

seems like players do not like incentive-based pay. IMO all K and P should be paid the min plus incentives since they are the only 2 positions that truly have some degree of control - though Ps more than Ks

Saddest thing of all is that most pro players have forgotten where they came from !!:yell:

I had started a thread some 6 weeks ago when I accidentally called Olindo "Olinda" but what I still believe is that in this age of Salary Cap Management we should not be paying $2 Mil a year to a Kicker. He struggled last year. Plus we should not be relying on our Kicker to be our Offense like we used to. All that has changed with Ricky Williams. I would rather see that $2 Mil spent on an OLB or a #2 WR.

Mare question

Hey folks, can someone give me some info on Mare's contract. The buzz up on GangGreen is that he refused to renegotiate, which may pave the way for his release.

Personally I'd love to sign him, as he'd be a major upgrade over the recently departed Hall.

Any thoughts/info would be appreciated.

(doing cartwheels over the Conway signing.... :( )

I guess I took this a little personal because I like Mare a lot. He has only been the best Dolphin kicker ever. I disagree about kickers not making good money, they are a huge difference maker.

I don't know if I would say the best ever... it is debatable, Stoyonvich has to be right there with him.
