We got rid of Suh with tons of dead money on his contract, got rid of Landry, and were relying on rookies to come in and fill pivotal roles in the defense. This roster just isn't, and wasn't, that great.

Miami came into the season and overachieved, got lucky with opposing teams' injuries, got a few lucky penalty calls, and had multiple insanely well-timed turnovers on defense to flip flop games, all to barely end up 3-0. It's not like we were dominating anybody.

Now we go through a spree of games where the Patriots bulldoze us with the help of a bunch of Zebras on BB's payroll(not that they needed them), we rack up a ton of injuries to our most important players, and the ball stops bouncing our way, and so many fans are shocked that we aren't wnining anymore.

I get the disappointment towards Gase and Burke, because I'm not particularly happy with their attitude towards game and team management either, but let's not act like they betrayed us by losing with some stellar roster line-up. We've got bums out there and they are doing exactly what they should be expected to. Lose horribly.

If you force a full rebuild at this point (though our roster rebuild should have started this last off-season if we hadn't torpedoed all of our resources) what are possible coaching candidates going to think? They get no benefit of the doubt, get set up for failure, get blasted by the media who is overly vicious towards everything Miami for whatever reason, and then get kicked out before even getting a chance to do anything.

But how did we win those games? That should have been the tell tale sign. Even the game with the Bears.

We are overmatched talent wise due to years of bad contracts in the offseason and FA, and bad drafts. That takes awhile to overcome. The only elite talent I see on this team right now is Tunsil. X is not far behind, but he's not there yet as we saw last week and against the Pats. Even Jones who makes big plays and tackles cant cover for crap. Crowder said it on the radio a couple days ago...there is not one position that you can say the Dolphins are better than the Texans at. Thinking about that will depress you bc he is right.

However, I do still feel like our defensive talent is better than we are playing. So I lean more towards poor coaching and scheme with regards to the defense. We are still young, but lots of upgrades to make still.

I'll add one more. It's hard to beat a GOOD DC by using the same scheme twice in a row. That's two weeks in a row. Which gets me to Miami. They seem to find a D scheme that works, umm, until an opponent figures out a way to beat it, after which it seems every team can beat Miami's D with that scheme. No concept of change. Frustrating.

Yah that is my biggest frustration with Burke. It's like they will only one run scheme no matter what, with no ability to adapt or change depending on the situation. That's why the Pats are always so good. By the time you copy the gameplan of a team that has success against the Pats, they change their whole strategy and it doesn't work anymore. Everyone claims Burke is some sort of genius, but Ive seen nothing to that effect at all. Even the simple fact that they don't have Fitz on the field more is maddening, he's our 2-3rd best defensive player.

Starting next game I would immediately move Fitz to FS, McCain back to the slot, and McTyer/Tank to boundary corner. I don't care what happens with TJ honestly, our secondary was so pathetic with blown coverages last week no one gets a pass, including Reshad.

I see no reason for Burke to still be on the staff. He should have been shown the door. We have no pride anymore as a franchise. This defense is stopping nothing and no one. DBs are suddenly totally lost and receivers are running free for easy catches. Cannot stop the run at all. We get gashed regularly. We're a High School defense. I demand a better defense if they intend to wear Miami Dolphin uniforms. The same uniforms worn by Dan Marino, Jason Taylor, Bob Griese, Larry Csonka and Coach Don Shula. There is a tradition to uphold. Get to work!

Mr. Ross-if this is the very finest team of people can you can put together to run your football franchise than you are a failure. Play the results because nothing else matters. You want to tell me this team is ascending after watching the defense get crushed by everybody in the league. Ours is the only defense I've ever seen where the opponent scores on every possession, be it 3 or 7!!! This is beyond unacceptable!!! I call for the immediate firing of Burke.

At times it seems they don't want to hurt TJ's feelings? Any loss by letting Tank play CB will be covered by Fitz at FS

Roster is fine, coaching is what is inferior.

No teams have all-pros at every position. We have enough talent to succeed, our coaches dont put them in position to succeed.

Or they just dont want to admit they screwed up by offering him a contract extension before he ever played a game? Either way we need an actual coverage safety back there, and someone who studies the playbook and won't get caught out of position. Last game is what happens when you have 2 SS back there smh.
