Now I admit it's unusual that there are no offensive players in the immediate area when a Hail Mary pass comes down, but that was indeed the case. I never heard it discussed anywhere, but the correct play was to just stand aside and let that ball hit the ground. absolutely NO reason to catch that or bat it down.

Touching that ball was the ONLY chance the Rams had to win that game, and for a brief second, we got a little scare. Think outside the box- sometimes the best play is to DO NOTHING.

Gase was pretty pissed about that at the presser.

You either catch it or bat it down. Normally you'd have two receivers behind you, so letting it go would probably be a bad idea too, but I see what you are saying.

The nearest two WR were just about to reach the end zone while Parker was 5 yards deep. Granted he was probably just watching the ball, but other DB's need to help out there and just call for a "Let It Go!!" (actually they need a catchword to scream like "OSKIE" ) :)

I'm pretty sure Parker didn't know if anyone was behind him...you don't want to just watch the ball go by you and then realize someone is behind you ready to catch it...at that point it's too late. Bat the ball down. Don't be selfish trying to pad your stats with an INT...bat it down.

yeah, pretty bad play by parker but he gets a pass this time.... lol

Yeah I thought that too. Parker actually kind of popped it up which could have been very dangerous if there were Rams in the vicinity.

I can't believe we are complaining about this; I guess when you are on a 5 game winning streak, you have to find something.

That's the way I saw it. He pushed it out of the endzone kind of volyball style. I don't think he tried to catch it. Not sure just letting it hit the ground would be safer than what he did because even if someone was behind him, which he knew there was no one behind him, they wouldn't have caught it because he batted it out of the endzone then followed it to the ground.

I think the same thing.

Ok when we win, ONLY focus on positives. When we lose ONLY focus on the negatives! Got it! Should someone update this in the forums TOS?

I'd like to disagree. This game wasn't easily won, and mistakes were made. Even Gase said there is more work to be done after a win like this. Even in winning you can still improve, and if Parker had that bounce off his hands or chest and it's caught by a Ram, game over, long ride home.

I have a feeling that's going to be the mantra for Gase. I don't think you'll EVER hear him say that everything is great and we played a perfect game. This is something I really like about him. He supports his team, but he's never satisfied...and he has no problem taking the blame for it. That kind of leadership is contagious.

I agree. I like that about Gase. Not quite sure what Parker was doing with that pass. I think he was trying to pick it, and he just didn't catch it. Lucky for him there wasn't anybody behind him, but if ifs and buts were beers and nuts, then LA would've won.
