Ok, after going to several practices and watching all 4 preseason games I have come up with this conclusion:
Whoever the starter is for the week, he gets out-played by the 2nd string Qb.
It could be because the 2nd string Qb is playing against inferior talent.
Or perhaps because the 1rst string Qb is under more presureand faces a greater defensive unit.
Whatever the reason, and there are plenty, it seems to me that Saban has a difficult task ahead of him. Feeley today out played Gus, there is no dought about that. So what does Saban do next week??
Start Feeley, to see how he plays with the 1st team
Start Frerotte, and see if he can play better than his last 2 games.
Any way you look at it, the fact remains as clear as water:
as of now, WE DO NOT HAVE A STARTING QUALITY QB!
so, that being the case, I say give Feeley the chance to see what he can do with the 1st team. If this trend continues Ferotte (playing with the 2nd unit) will probably do better.
I still think that we have enough talent in this team to go 8-8, specially after seeing the progression our overall team showed.
But come next year, I see Saban and company going for Omar, Matt, or Drew.
