Since these names were thrown around the board for the last 2 months, I figured that this would be a decent comparison since we looked to secure AJ by March 3rd.

These are their first 5 games as starters to compare...

AJ (4-1 in 2002)...
151 att, 83 comp (55%), 994 yds (6.58 YPA), 5 TD, 5 INT, 4 sks...

T. Brady (3-2 in 2001)...
159 att, 99 comp (62%), 1023 yds (6.43 YPA), 7 TD, 4 INT, 10 sks...

P. Ramsey (2-3 in 2002)...
164 att, 95 comp (58%), 1067 yds (6.5 YPA), 6 TD, 6 INT, 16 sks...

M. Hasselbeck (1-4 in 2001)...
123 att, 65 comp (53%), 764 yds (6.21 YPA), 2 TD, 5 INT, 23 sks...

M. Bulger (5-0 in 2002)...
173 att, 113 comp (65%), 1496 yds (8.64 YPA), 12 TD, 4 INT, 7 sks...

A. Wright (2-3 in 2000-2001)...
138 att, 68 comp (49%), 834 yds (6.04 YPA), 7 TD, 7 INT, 12 sks...

B. Voleck (1-0 in 2003)... Notice only started 1 game this past year, against Buffalo...
41 att, 26 comp (63%), 295 yds (7.19 YPA), 2 TD, O INT, 4 sks...

IMO Bulger stats looks great, but with all the offensive weapons that the Rams have, it would make a good QB look great. Just makes me wonder why they were 7-9 in 2002?

Next I would rank AJ after Bulger...

Bottom line is that we might have picked the top 1 or 2 starter of the FA lot available for us this year, at a reasonable cost...

Brady had some sick numbers with zero talent around him.

What a great QB. Us Patriots fans are so blessed.

On the contrary, you had Troy Brown 1200 yds, Antoine Smith 1100 yds and David Patten with 750 yds as your # 2 WR...

A great defensive unit that gave up only 22 TDs for the year. And you have not forgotten that they won the Big game that year..

Alot of individual talent played as a team, just like they did this year...

Brady's stats were better than Feeley's as well. Also, you have to consider in this that Ramsey was a rookie and rookies never do well.

Also, it is pointless to consider winning record because Feeley won games because of the defense's great play. Feeley wasn't exactly lighting it up on the field.

Those players were never good until Brady became QB.

Actually under Belichick the Patriots were 5-13. Since Brady has taken over, the Patriots are 40-11.

Just food for though. Winning percentage is overrated anyways.

Pats started winning not so much because Brady started, but because Bledsoe was NOT starting.

In any case, going by just 5 games is insufficient sample-size to make any kind of meaningful comparison. If you just go by the numbers stated above, you'd think that Bulger is a better QB than Brady ... and you know how absurd that is !!! :D

My take on Brady is, surrounded with the right people, and offensive scheme, he executes masterfully.

What happens when he doesn't have good receivers, offensive linemen, or a decent running game? Has he proven he can carry a bad team? Or is he just a systems quarterback?

Just curious.
