Apparently after one week Miami's running game is going back to the 2 back system where two guys will share the rushing load. What do you guys think of this??? I personally don't like it. Ronnie can more than carry the load, and I've always thought that it was/is better to have one back carrying the ball the majority of the time as they get into a "flow" better that way. Also to be totally honest....... I think Suggs is probably half the physical specimen that Ronnie is and when Suggs is in he's going to get 1-2 yards or lose yardage on plays where Ronnie would have gotten 5 or more. Anyway, what are you guys opinions on this???

I dont think the rushing load should be shared an even 50/50. I agree that Suggs doesnt have the same abilities as Brown, but i think that Suggs should be thrown in there from time to time. Maybe as a blocker? I dont know how good he is in that category much less receiving. But i say a ratio of 75% of the running game to ronnie, the rest to Suggs (or whomever else Saban has in mind)

Suggs will be good to spell Ronnie 1 or 2 times per series, but otherwise I want Ronnie in there for the majority of the carries. And not just for the sake of my fantasy football squad.

I think saban wanted a 2 back system all along, albeit i dont think he was it 50/50. Im thinking like 65/35-70/30

I think it depends on how it's done. I would like to see Ronnie Brown get the majority of carries but I think it's good to rest his legs and keep him fresh (as the cliches go). You would think a professional rusher could get some sort of rhythm going even without having to carry the ball on practically every rushing play.

Hopefully splitting carries a bit will make it less likely either back gets injured.

In my eyes (and it's just one opinion no more valid than any other) it seems like a good idea to split carries if you believe you've got two capable enough backs to share the load.

Saban has always liked sharing the carries. I for one am all for it. If you have a Tomlinson then I can see why you would want to get him 30 touches a game. But I for one wouldn't be comfortable trying to get 350+ carries out of Brown. Look what it did to Ricky...or Jamal Anderson.

I think more than anything, this is a sign that Miami is going to run more this week . At least they are planning to. And that they are confident running against the Buffalo team . I wouldn't look too deeply into this, because I wouldn't want Ronnie rushing 35 times this Sunday either.. 25 carries for Ronnie and 10 for Suggs and we'll be fine.

We are going to run alot, so let's keep the horses fresh so to speak.

Have you read that? I hadn't really heard one way or the other about it. Nonetheless I don't understand your opinion that Suggs will only avg a yard or two. He has a 4 ypc avg since being in the league. Why wouldn't he do any better than 1-2 ypc?

Saban's plan for sharing running duties has typically been more like 70/30, at least that's what he says he wants Suggs to do. 70/30 is good, gives Ronnie some rest, creates something else for the defense to deal with. While Ronnie's a bruiser type runner, Suggs is more the finesse, speed type guy. I think its a good setup.

More and more teams are starting to use the two running back system in the NFL so their starters stay fresh longer into the season.

I think 70/30 Ronnie to Suggs is a good ratio. Ronnie's capable of handling the load IMO, no need to kill him early in the season.

You should let the fist game shake out so you can actually see what percentage of plays Saban means in "sharing" carries.

I'm betting with some others that it's more or a 70/30 type of deal giving Brown a good breather on some series.

Assuming he's going to get 1-2 yards or lose yards I don't get why you're coming up with this. The knock on Suggs has never been talent, it's been his health. I expect him to be at least on par with Morris.

or maybe this is because ronnie has never really been a starter before and is struggling with carrying the load on his own. he didnt play well last year until ricky came in. maybe saban isnt very happy with how hes been performing

Mularkey talks the talk but lacks the intestinal fortitude to walk the walk ... or in this case, run the run, especially when the running gets tough. Unless the Fins OL suddenly improves greatly and can open some big holes early on, Mularkey will go to the pass, which is exactly what Buffalo wants him to do, I'm guessing. He doesn't have the patience to run the ball, which makes it hard to hold a lead.

Pitt kept plugging away and plugging away with the run, and eventually, Miami's D gave in and started giving up bigger plays. Miami plugged away for a while, and then started throwing every down. While it's true that 2 or 3 yards a carry isn't very good, most RBs need more than 15 carries over the course of a game to get "in their rhythm".

Ask yourself, down by 4 with 6+ minutes and then less than 5 to play, why start airing out the ball on every down? Pitt knew Mularkey likes to pass, and they were waiting to pounce.
