The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

Good win tonight for the Sox. Schilling pitched extremely well. Ortiz is making a bid to finally win an MVP award and Lowell played well tonight.

Hopefully they can win tomorrow (a game which I will be at) with Kyle Synder ( ) starting against Joe Blanton. I would say that the Sox have no chance but Blanton has been very up and down all year. Wakefield will start on Monday vs. KC instead, his back must be bugging him a lot which isn't good news.

I don't think Ortiz will ever win a MVP award without playing defense.

Schilling what more can you say.. Our pitching is looking old and injury prone, but we have enough decent guys to start every night if Lester stays healthy.. I don't know what kind of trade Theo will make, a standout bullpen arm would be nice, but it will cost to much this year.. I don't think you can really upgrade the offense without taking on a big salary like Abreu or a potential half a year guy like Carlos Lee if he doesn't resign.. I am not sure another ok starter will help us any..

I'm not pointing any fingers, but somebody in here went to the Sox game today and jinxed them :nono:
It wasn't me :tsk:

I completely agree. They could have bios on Ted Williams, Pesky, Yaz but instead they show Hunting shows with Millar and Timlin or ESPN News. It's crap. They should copy exactly what YES does. Have Red Sox shows on certain players, show classic games more, put WEEI on TV. The ratings they could get on doing that would be through the roof.
I cant wait...then nyy fans could stop torturing just met fans about "being copycats" LOL.

Or that the only Sox run came on an Alex Gonzalez home run?

I'm just going to say to myself "its only July"

It is only July, but August is just around the corner and the Yankees clearly aren't going away. The Sox need Beckett to step up and pitch like he did the first 2 months of the season and guys like Youkilis, Loretta and Lowell need to break out of their slumps and V-tek needs to you know hit actually.

We have a 3 game series vs. KC that we should take 3. With that being said the Sox SHOULD sweep the series.

Just finished reading "Feeding the Monster" it was a GREAT book and I recommend it for any Sox or even baseball fan. Very interesting stuff in there about Manny, Nomar, Pedro, Theo, 2004 Sox, 2005 Sox with some surprising stories about some players (I shocked when I read that Bill Mueller, Kevin Millar and Jay Payton, ok I wasn't surprised Payton was, were the biggest jerks in the Sox clubhouse in 2005). Anyway it's worth it.

that was a huge comeback, I thought they were gonna lose the lead in the division...at the feet of the Royals. :whew:

The bats still need to wake up. Word is Wakefield might go on the DL. The Sox are in trouble. Maybe the Sox could call up FL and try to trade Hansen and Ellisbury for Willis.

Wells should be back within the next couple weeks.

I don't see any big trades happening for the Sox.
