We can thank Varitek for that beautiful piece of hitting. Captain or not, he's pissing me off pretty consistently this year. He's a liability at the plate.

Losing this game would be a disgrace.
Agreed on both points.

Thankfully, Atlanta's bullpen sucks worse than ours. Great job by Lowell, Crisp and Cora coming through in big situations. Now the Bullpen is set up for Timlin and Papelbon to close it out.

Great job by the offense to bounce back.

How long is Crisp gonna stay in the 8th spot?

Until he's swinging the bat well enough to contribute offensively on a consistent basis. Let's face it, since coming off the DL, he hasn't exactly been an offensive threat.

Hopefully that huge single late last night in Atlanta gets him going a bit.

Excellent win.

Considering that we had Kyle Snyder on the mound tonight, I don't think any of us could have went in with big expectations. However, they battled and found a way to win. Great stuff, and kudos to Snyder.. he actually pitched pretty well in a spot start situation.

Yup. But in all honesty, we shouldn't lose to the nationals. I don't think they have 1 SP with a sub 5 ERA...

Have you guys heard anything about us with the trading deadline? I caught the end of Gammons mentioning something, didn't hear who it was he was talking about.

I hate how Oakland keeps getting good around this time of year. I've wanted Zito these last 2 1/2 years... We need a solid lefty in this rotation.

Gabe Kapler has been a beast since he returned.. When Wily Mo comes back we will really have some decent options of the bench.. Youk continues to play great ball, and if we could get another starter I would be thrilled.

Tell that to the Yankees. We had Kyle Snyder on the mound, a loss wouldn't have been surprising in the least bit especially considering that Armas Jr. has been their best arm in the rotation this year.

And as far as Zito is concerned, I'd prefer it if we just stayed away from the Athletics in trade discussions all together. I'm sick of being ravaged by Billy Beane (Jay Payton for Chad Bradford, Bradford SUCKS).

GM, did you make it to any games in Atlanta over the weekend?
