The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

Jason Johnson has now been picked up.. After Schill, Beckett, Wake, we could be starting anyone on any given day.. Hopefully Lester hangs onto the 4th slot, the revolving door of pitchers must be closed.

I'll be glad when this series is over tonight. None of the games this series have even been entertaining. I thought the Braves were bad, but I think Washington might even be worse. I mean honestly, is there ANYONE in this lineup that you actually enjoy watching up at the plate. Soriano is having a great year, but its not exactly a pleasure watching him hack away with no plate discipline.

Overall, the National League just flat out sucks. And in particular, the NL East is far and away the worst division in baseball. I'll be interested to see the Mets next week, in my eyes their "great season" might be overrated considering the teams they get to play 19 times a year.

I don't know if the Red Sox will win the division or the pennant this year, but if they were in the NL, they'd cruise to the WS after watching this garbage.

On a side not Lester looks S-T-R-O-N-G.

Fin, what's up man? How have you been?

Anyway, this series has been dreadful... actually it's been so bad that I had to turn off the games the past couple of nights just because the Nationals haven't even been in the game. It's been so boring just watching the Red Sox dominate..

Yeah Lester looked great tonight, but I have to wonder how much of that performance can be attributed to the Triple-A lineup thrown out there by the Nationals.

the Nationals actually have a solid lineup, it's just the Red Sox completely destroyed them these past 2 days.

5 in a row! :woot:

I understand they are without Nick Johnson who is an excellent ball player. But even when you account for his production, at least by AL standards, it's still a pretty pathetic lineup.

I might even contend that KC is a better team than the Nationals. Considering how top heavy the AL Central is with the likes of Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Minnesota.. all very capable teams they are forced to play 19 times a year. The division rivals of Washington pale in comparison to that group.

I've been pretty good man, thanks for asking. Yourself?

I agree, no need to get overly pumped because of the reason you stated.

But soon my friend, very soon we will see him go against a top tier team and I have a feeling that we will be impressed. Lester has the same demeanor as Papelbon, he seems unflappable. I love it.

Look at our pitching staff for the next 10-12 years.. It starts right here and now.

hahaha i find it very funny that red sox fans do not enjoy watching the sox dominate! haha i agree tho, those games were not entertaining

What the hell is this doing on pg. 2?

Beckett has looked great thus far, and Manny has homered twice.

7 now. Wow maybe I shouldn't have come back home. The Sox are on fire now. I'm going to the game on Sunday so hopefully it won't rain.

And yes the bullpen sucks, and yes the Sox need to get rid of the dead weight in Seanez and Taveras. I have no idea what's taking them so long to hang onto these guys. It's obviously not the money because they're paying Renteria to bat over .300 in Altanta.

If I was the GM, I'd seriously try and make a trade for Scott Williamson. I loved the guy when he was in Boston and when he was healthy he was very good (of course that's a big problem with him). I'd then dump Seanez and Taveras and call up Craig Bleslow and Craig Hansen and let the kids pitch, at least they'd try and you know.... not suck.
