My question is why the hell do teams keep pitching to him?

Make someone else beat you I dont care who it is, pitch to Manny, make him beat you.

Good question which I'm sure drives AL managers crazy trying to think about. Manny is a HOF, why on earth would you walk someone to pitch to a HOFer? It's a tough decision but I'd never throw a pitch to Ortiz again even in the 1st inning.

David Ortiz, are you kidding me?

He continues to do it, and I continue to be amazed. That ball was completely destroyed.

This guy is beyond incredible.. and I'm not sure people appreciate how good this guy really is, and how impressive what he's doing really is..
:yeahthat:

and I turned my TV off in disgust watching Wells :nono:

I'm sorry but I don't care what anyone says about him not playing defense. David Ortiz has been the American League MVP for the past 3 years in a row in my book. If he doesn't win it this year then it's a joke. NO ONE is this clutch. MVPAPI baby!
this guy deserves it and if he dont get it then there is something wrong with baseball...

I know you dont want Manny to beat you either......but

Ortiz is almost guaranteed to beat you.... at least with Manny you have a shot to get him out

Ok about the game:

First the bad: Loretta in the 9th. You don't swing at a 1-0 pitch with runners on base and a rookie pitcher who's making his first save opportunity in his career that is ready to implode. And Varitek might be hurt. Eventhough he's been bad this year I'd rather have him bat .240 then throw Mirabelli out there.

Good news: We needed a big night from Coco and he went 2 for 4. Wily Mo had a huge night going 3 for 4 with a BOMB HR, triple and double and 3 RBIs. His BA is .333 and his OBP is almost .390 I believe. These guys need to step it up. And it's nice to see Wily Mo taking the first step to running away with an opportunity.

I understand how people don't want to vote for him because he doesn't play the field, but all you have to do is watch this guy hit for 162 games. It's truly amazing.

14 game winning hits since 2003 (5 this season).

Ortiz- .289 BA, .395 OBP 37 HR, 105 RBIs, 80 runs scored, and 1 SB!

If I were a pitching and had to either pitch to Ortiz or Manny, I'd probably drop the ball and walk off the mound and let someone else deal with it.

Also, not to take away from what Papi did, but BIG PROPS to Kyle Snyder holding the line and giving us a chance to win this thing.

You're right this is forgotten in the W. He pitched very well and deserved the W for keeping the game within 2 runs.

Also Varitek getting hurt, hopefully he's out for a day or 2.

They should have walked him... He has become one of the most dangerous hitters in a game winning situation...

Or have a mental breakdown and curl up on the mound crying

I hate to say it but Ortiz is the truth!

It's almost scary that before the inning you say to yourself, if two guys get on base Ortiz is going to win it. And you know as soon as he comes to the plate the game is over.

This really is unreal. He's not human. No one can be this clutch.

My other question

How the heck is he ALWAYS at bat in the 9th

Great win by the Sox, my advice to the others teams please don't pitch to big papi.
