The 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread

Tim McCarver always has to ruin a pleasant afternoon of baseball viewing.

Manny friggen destroyed that ball!

Huge inning.. Manny, Lopez, Wily Mo and Kapler all hit the ball extremely hard.

Hold the line Beckett.

Beckett walks in the go ahead run...new pitcher comes in and walks in another batter. Nice job.

This is a stupid move by Francona. Papelbon shouldn't be in in this point of the ball game.

The Yankees are going to end up winning this game now. Terrible managing by Francoma once again. He's setting Papelbon up to fail.

Well I know that was coming but I didn't think it was going to happen after he got out of the 8th. Mirabelli has to catch that ball. I'll tell you what, I'm not making any excuses, but this team missing V-tek behind the plate badly.

Although he blew the save I give Papelbon credit, he threw very well tonight and showed he has guts. As good as he's been this year, its asked a lot of someone to get 6 outs because no one else can.

This team isn't winning crap this year.

And whether they win or lose tonight, they're screwed tomorrow. Who's going to close in a tight spot? Papelbon threw 40 pitches so he won't be used tomorrow. Hansen? Delcarmen? Timlin? Foulke? Oh god the Sox better score some runs tomorrow like 15.

someone explain to me why we don't pinch run for Ortiz in that situation in the ninth with no one out?

what a complete failure... the corporation and it's conceited fans strike again....

Nah there's no way you pinch run with Ortiz ever. Grady Little used to do it all the time (one of the reasons why he got fired). If you take him out and don't score you lose you're best hitter in extra innings. Plus who was going to pinch run for him? Javy Lopez, Eric Hinske or a hurt Alex Gonzalez were the only options on the bench.

so what? you gotta shoot your wad when you have the chance against the corporation... that Giambi gaffe was gift wrapped!!!!!... Papi legging it out for two to lead off the 9th was the open door that we didn't step through... Gonzalez beats that play to third on the Youk bunt, if they even bother to try and throw to third... Then Gonzalez scores on the passed ball, game over... You're not playing for overtime against this team, with our sorryass bullpen... You're playing to win the game right then and there...

That's assuming Gonzalez can even run. He has a bad back that has kept him out of the line up for 3 days.

I'm not even sure bunting with Youk is the right call in that situation though.

its what you have to do...any manager would have done that.

plus this is the major ****ign league...players should know how to bunt.

what a complete disappointment... the worst part is watching yankee fans inhale before they spew a year's worth of gloat
