Dont go getting all excited over a "mini-camp" BTW look at who they had playing OLB in many of those fronts( Taylor, D.Bowans) if you dont think for a minute OC's around the league wouldnt be licking their chops at a chance to attack Taylor or Bowans on an every down occasion if they where going to be the OLB's you dont know football.
And I will say it again "Saban doesnt run a base 3-4" I am tired of all you media marks who dont understand football its real simple Saban wants flexability in his defense however his "base defense" is about over and under "shifting" his DL and having a LB on the LOS(line of scrimmage) thus getting 5 men on the LOS, just as a 3-4 front.
So that its fully understood in Saban's previous defense's (LSU & MSU) he had a DT playing a tilt or stunt technique over the C, then had an under DT playing the shoulder of either G (depending on if the line was under or over shifted) with his DE's playing outside contain the SDE would play over the SOT just inside the TE, with the WDE playing one man wide of the WOT.
Now that means nothing in terms of how Saban will set his NFL defensive fronts but the point I wanted to make was that in understanding how he had his 4-3 fronts align
you get a similair effect as the 3-4, but in the end it doesnt matter 3-4...4-3 its more about technique and pursuit and tackling not fancy x's & o's.
