The 5th Rounder Used on Wright

I saw in Article Ninja's Commentary about Manuel Wright that Saban and Mueller used the lower of two 2006 5th rounders on him. Does anybody remember from where we acquired the 2nd 2006 5th rounder? I can't recall. Thanks.

Consensus is that it is a conditional pick from the Packers for G Brad Bidell (sp.?) who we traded them last year

No the consensus is that its a typo! Where the first article read the Dolphins used "their" second pick in the fifth round, it should have read, the Dolphins used "the" second pick in the fifth round. This is posted in a number of other places as well

That confirms it....I was confused as to how they knew which would be the second of our 5th round choices next year as we surely would have had to e-mail in a certain one (e.g. Green Bays 5th in 06 or Miami's 5th in 06 rather than "The latter in 06"). That would have to cause the season to wade out before it was evident we had the best deal.

However, I am confused as I read various articles stating we will still have a 5th next year...surely a typo would not cause such confusion.

I"m not sure what you are reading but I would make a sizable wager they are all based on the original mistake and are simply following the quote. The three local dailies in the Miami area are all simply saying our fifth round pick in their morning stories about this.

The Bedell pick was a conditional 7th in 2006.

We gave our ONLY 2006 5th round pick to get Wright.

We now have NO 5th round pick next year.

It was a typo. Wright will turn out to be a STEAL in 2 years IMO....
