Peterson has already been scouting GM's for the league. This should give the Dolphins an advantage with some of these GM's that are not well known, Peterson should already know their strengths, weaknesses, etc..

When Dolphins owner Stephen Ross asked Peterson, his friend and confidant, to find the best person to replace Jeff Ireland as GM, he couldn't have asked for someone any more prepared. Peterson has been scouting the field, on behalf of the league, for some time."Carl’s incredibly knowledgeable, with vast experience in football,” said Robert Gulliver, the NFL’s head of human resources who lead the advisory committee project. “He has tremendous insights that are helpful to many.”

Peterson has suggested a broad, ambitious slate of candidates for the Dolphins’ opening. Khan, Dolphins assistant general manager Brian Gaine and Cardinals vice president of player personnel Jason Licht already have interviewed for the job.

Not a big fan of Peterson and was afraid Ross would make him the GM, but I am fine with him doing some behind the scenes stuff and helping Ross. Ross seems clueless and Peterson does have a decent background. As long as he is not hired by this organization, I am ok with his help. Hopefully we can land one of these guys. I like the ones we have brought in so far.

Good job by Peterson, he apparently contacted McCloughan and DeCosta at the top of the list who declined unfortunately.

I'm warming up to the idea of Farmer possibly being our GM. Also wasn't Farmer working with Peterson in KC? I thought I read that, so maybe he wouldn't even been on our radar if not for Peterson. Who knows. I really like the candidates we've brought in/are seeking out.

Carl Peterson gets a bad a rap. He picked a **** ton of good players in KC. They are still their best players. Peterson is a Joe Fan so he is not perfect. lol.

What is funny is that since Ross took over as owner in 2009, Peterson's name comes up all the time about taking over the team.

Florio talked about it any time there was a change with the team and was talking about how it would happen when Parcells was threatening to leave after the 2008 season. When Sparano was fired, he brought it up again and even ESPN reported that he was taking over the football department. Ireland got fired and Florio/Armando instantly said that Peterson could be taking over. Every time they have been wrong.

Is Carl around more if Farmer gets the gig? Just wondering. I would not have an issue with it, but I wonder.

I don't think so, I think he is just helping out his friend in this process.

I am glad he is helping out, because he is bringing in quality candidates.

Me too. I have never had an issue with Peterson. I think people dump on him because of how he handled Tony Gonzalez and Jared Allen. He found a ton of great players.

Hey, if Farmer comes in, my boy Branden Albert has to come here right? LOL. A KC guy in the house, Joe wanted Albert and Albert lives in South Fla…great fit.

At this point, with how this whole thing is set up. I would take Carl Peterson for this job.

I like that Peterson is consulting, but I'd like a younger fresher mind coming in, someone more available to the changes coming to the game.

So if Peterson is a good friend of Ross, is extremely knowledgeable, and likes joe philbin, then I gotta ask, why not him for GM? I'm not gonna try to pretend like I know anything about gm candidates, because I don't. So if you wanna flame me for this go easy because I'm just asking a serious question.
