Im keeping my eye on this Mack situation in Cleveland. Obviously if you negotiate a good deal then the Browns most likely just match it. I think Cleveland could get a long-term deal done anyways. With that said...maybe you bring him in for a visit. The only thing would be talking to Pouncey about moving to guard...or Mack to guard. I think both are pro-bowl players at either position to be honest.

We have already heard at least 4 teams expressed interest but no visits or anything else. The article says that Mack is willing to be patient and basically also says that they have thought of ideas to structure contracts that wouldnt be matched by Cleveland (without using a poison pill but Im guessing something similar that skirts the rules)

Nothing is likely to come of this...but it definitely deserves monitoring

Regarding poison pills...those were specifically outlawed in the last CBA. He's sitting ok with no rush because the tender pays him handsomely this year. Most teams will just assume they'd have to overpay to get Cleveland to balk since they get no comp for him walking so I wouldn't expect any team to want to pay an interior lineman huge money.

He hasnt signed his tender though...if he wanted to get paid he should sign because they can revoke the transition tag if they choose to do so (this is according to the article). My guess is he really doesnt want to be there...and understandably so. If you read the article they address the poison pill. They specifically state they have ideas to structure a contract that Cleveland wouldn't match without breaking the new rules.

just gonna do the work for cleveland...but at this point...sure...why not

Bengals didn't match the Browns offer On WR Hawkins so they Browns have a little less ammo to keep Mack if someone wants to try and snag him.

I think Mack on this team would be amazing. Put him at center and put Pouncey at LG or RG and you have an amazing offensive line. I would seriously consider it if I was Hickey.

Guy wants Tackle money and plays Center. No thanks.
He has never asked for tackle money. Cleveland is the party that decided to tender him at that level. The only reason I'd even consider Mack right now is that our cap situation is FLUSH with money and... who else are we going to sign? We need interior OL help badly.

Do it...worse case scenario you eat up a conference rivals cap space....if we have the room get creative...With Mack and Zach Martin you'd have an excellent line.

If we were targeting Mack, it would have happened a week ago.

Cut Matt Moore saves 4 mill and the guy dont see field,if RT goes down so does season go with Devlin. Take Mooes 4 plus our 4-5 and sign him. If Pouncy doesnt want to play guard trade him t Cleveland he is still on cheap contract. I realize losin Pouncy creates hole but would command high draft pick.If he moves to guard we have solved oline prob

Hell no to any move where you make Pouncey bitter or lose him, don't need another hole to fill.

Either one can play both positions at a high level, but Mack is a better center. I doubt Pouncey would be bitter come contract time since guards tend to make more than centers.

I'm very happy to get Mack if that's the case Val, that would make three anchors on a nasty Oline. Also would let us grab best player available in draft or add Martin for a killer line.
