What people don't understand is that, like the OP suggests, the words, the energy, the vibes, whatever you want to call it, that you send to your team has an effect on the team. Ask the vet who posted. How do you think it would affect his performance if he knew people back home talked about nothing else than what a stinky soldier he was and how he wasn't worth a peanut. Think how you would feel if people you cared about spoke like that about you (and, yes, believe it or not, football players are human).

Hopefully the general would take him out of the battle before he gets himself and the platoon killed. Do you really think you're doing anybody any favors by letting and encouraging a bad soldier to go out there.

"You can do this Timmy! You're the best soldier ever".

Even though you know in your heart he'll probably get killed.

this is why soldiers train to get evaluated and prepared. i never try to act like a soldier is better than he really is. until we prove otherwise we are a 7-9 team
 
Whether you are an optimist or a pessimist.....CAN WE ALL STOP WITH THIS TRUE FAN CRAP?!?!?! I mean, damn....it's the stupidest argument here on these forums and all it does is turn into another *****-fest! Besides, who the hell has the right to question the fanhood of another fan? Unless you are basically stating you're quitting on this team, we're ALL true Dolphins fans! It doesn't matter if you're a "HOMER" or a "REALIST" or anything in between....we ALL root for the same damn team!!!!

Complain about the team, the players, the owners, the front office, but don't question someone's fanhood because he/she predicts 13-3 or 3-13. It's just so damn annoying to see all this back and forth between fans because we don't agree with each other's way of rooting for the team. We should be better than this! /rant

To OPs point of "just be positive": I don't like the bashing or booing of specific players, as long as they're trying their best, but if you really hate what the FO is doing how else do you show that besides booing the personnel on the field and or not paying to see home games? I'm sure Henne takes it personally when he gets booed but the real message is to the owner/FO.

And in before if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

I am very proud of My Miami Dolphins.
Having taken the mistakes made by new ownership and not allowing them to be as big or divisive as the National and local media would have like us to believe. They have stood behind each other, and behind Chad Henne who has been attacked like no other Dolphins player I can remember, all the way to his being named a captain on his team.
Some of the attacks were deserved, some were just the new and bold fake bravado that sitting in anonymity behind a keyboard has brought to our society, For all the wonder and information the Internet has given us, it has created a entirely new sort of human. One who has no clue about when enough is enough. Or has no internal brake or relational mechanism that speaking face to face teaches. It has given a voice to those who would otherwise be considered very little more then snot nosed little punks. Allowing them to speak with a Crocodile Mouth, while still only having a Hummingbird ars.
I stand behind this team even more then ever. I think they are more then they are given credit... I think there are many who feel the same. I don't feel one bit sorry for those who will not share any honest joy when this team succeeds. No one should care for or tolerate front runners or band wagoners as first rate fans. They are merely the irritants around those who love their team most.

Listen, I have news for you. This website does not represent all the dolphin fans in Florida or anywhere else. If we are here, chances are WE ARE VERY REAL FANS. i am not going to spend time on an internet message board if the fact that the dolphins winning didnt make me smile for a week, and the fact that the dolphins losing, makes me a sourpuss for a good amount of time.

so the people wanting to "suck for luck" are real fans? how do you root for your team to lose and call yourself a fan of that team?

I do not agree with Suck for Luck, but it come from people being desperate to get out of the mediocrity spiral this team is in. I still think they are fans. I also don't think they will really be sitting at home rooting for the Pats tonight.
 
What can fans really do? People are so passionate about a thing they have no control over; this is the problem of pro sports. So we take it out on message boards by attacking personnel, coordinators, and management. FH is a good place to exert your stress and frustration: people are informed and know what you're talking about; you'll find solidarity through suffering; it's the internet! (there are no repercussions for a wave of heated/knee-jerk/offensive/disrespectful posts other than admitting you were wrong, which, as we all know, rarely happens).

i know they will root for the team tonight. If they didnt root for the team they wouldnt be here at finheaven (unless your nyjunc) but the whole "suck for luck" thing is just flat out ridiculous if you ask me. Im not saying those people arent "fans" but you do have to question it when someone flat out says they want to see their team lose to get the first pick of the draft. If it happens it happens but im not gonna root for my team to lose just to acquire the number one overall pick in next years draft. Im too much of a fan to ever even consider that. Im sorry if my opinion on these people not being "real fans" offends people but i just cant grasp how people could call themselves fans and root for the team theyre supposed to be a fan of to lose.

And im not okay with mediocrity. I see people who are pessimistic say to the optimistic people all the time that they must be okay with mediocrity or whatever. Noone is fine with mediocrity. Ive been through all the bad years with everyone else. Ive been a fan since i was born and grew up watching Marino. Im not happy about the state of the franchise. The mid-2000's were the worst. We were a talentless lost team with no direction. We went through numerous coaches. Made tons of boneheaded draft picks and signing and trades. Ive been through it all too. Im just as sick of mediocrity as everyone else. But i see this team headed in the right direction. I have hope in this team. I will always root for the fins through good and bad. Im more of an optimist at this point though. It looked alot worse a couple of years ago. We have talent on this team now. We have alot of young guys with potential. It looks alot better now than it did a few years ago.
 
All the dolphin fans that post here are true fans, they may not all be pom pom waving fans but that doesn't make them less of a fan.

Wait? ... You don't think poor performing soldiers DON'T get criticized? You don't think soldiers who make bad decisions aren't replaced, demoted, kicked out or more? Well welcome to the real world ... happens all the time.

Now as to this team ... I criticize all of their dumbf***ery just as hard as I root for them because I want them to succeed, precisely why I am a fan.

It's pretty sad when a Jets fan is coming on here and making more sense than some Dolphins fans around here. :chuckle:
