and he is only just developing!!!!
See that's the thing though, he was already very polished coming out. Great hands, great route runner, YAC machine and tough as nails. You are talking a guy who checks off the box as a first round pick, except for 2 things . . . . the ceiling isn't "much higher" and he doesn't have "great speed".
And I am perfectly fine with that. I got a great player from day 1 and a guy my young QB trusts.
When I hear people asking for DGB for example, not even factoring in character issues, it feels like they believe they are going to get a guy whose impact is going to be similar to a guy like Landry's. Although anything is possible, they are 2 very different players. DGB is a raw route runner, he is not very strong either, especially for a guy his size . . . he's a guy who I believe would struggle mightily in camp and make the team based on potential and where he was drafted. His impact in year one would be slim to none.
But back to Juice . . . I want people to realize that this kid is not a miracle worker. He's not a guy you want to put outside . . . it's not where he is best suited. He's best in the slot where he can shake loose from a nickel cb, use his quickness to make people miss and then break tackles.
So when people say things like "Get rid of Wallace, we got Juice" . . . Juice is not a guy you want replacing Wallace on the outside and Juice does benefit from having a speedster like Mike Wallace on the field. It allows the stuff underneath to be that much more clear and gives him and guys like Charles Clay more space to operate.
It really was a great pick by Hickey though. He actually understood the type of QB Ryan Tannehill is and that he needed a guy like Jarvis Landry as it suits his skill set to a T.
Can't lie though, I do worry about his longterm health in the NFL . . . that dude takes and takes on some major hits.
