Hal Habib at the Post had a nice look at Gase:

"And that’s not just the media talking. Just consider some of the adjectives used to describe Gase and the men saying it:

“Smartest guy I know” — Peyton Manning.

“Master of innovation” — John Fox.

“Genius” — John Elway."

Perhaps he is a genius - as an OC. But do his skills translate to a genius HC? That is the issue, especially for someone so young for the position.

there are like 3 Adam Gase threads..thanks for starting another one

The NFL dustbin is littered with guys like this.

You want to talk about genius? Did this guy come up with a new offensive system? Did he create mismatches all over the field...that somehow only led to the Bears scoring 21 points per game? This is preposterous.

Hasn't anyone ever had a call from an employer looking for a recommendation on a potential new hire? If you like the person in question, are you going to say "he is an average employee", or are you going to paint the person in the best light? If Elway thought so highly of Gase, why is Gase in Chicago? Actions speak louder than words.

Interesting, Elway calls him a genius and then fires him smh, not sure about this Gase guy, Owners have a way of falling in love with these boy wonder OC and they have yet to pan out.....hopefully this will be the exception....

Employers and players saying good things about a coordinator to the media doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

I remember hearing the same thing about Cam Cameron.....I would like someone with some head coaching experience as our last 4 Coordinators have not worked out.

Kubiak is his own offensive coordinator.

So Elway has a genius on his hands, a guy who was responsible for the highest-scoring offense in NFL history, and he is not going to either promote him to head coach, or ask Kubiak to keep him on his staff in some capacity? Because Gary Kubiak is the best coach in NFL history? And clearly more than a genius, like Gase?

Just another media/NFL built "hot coach" candidate.. Every year you see these guys and every 2 years you see them get fired and demoted to their rightful place... college ball or coordinating gig.

Nothing to see here.

The can't miss wiz coach....

Nothing to say really other then Gase will be a poor hire. When/where did he ever succeed consistently? Did he ever succeed at all?

Elway had a choice of promoting an offensive coordinator with no head coaching experience (and one he knew extremely well), or a "failed, re-tread" who bombed out in Houston.

Who did he choose....Gase or Kubiak?

But we're supposed to get excited because Elways says Gase is a genius.
