After the draft and coping with Gin instead of Quinn. We need to look at the "big picture".

First of all, our roster.

Offense.

We need to embrace the idea that we added a great playmaker. And lets be honest amongst the good players in Chambers, McMichael (GONE), Welker (GONE), Booker, Ronnie Brown, .... Its been a long time since our last playmaker. Ricky Williams was briefly and other than that Dan Marino was the last in a long long time. Someone who changes a game multiple times in a season. A guy who when the 4th quarter rolls around and you're thinking what can we do to get back in this game, you think well Ted Ginn might do something for us. Its hard to appreciate a player like that.... But just looking at last season rookies, I think our staff acknowledged players like Vince Young, Mauriece Jones Drew, Devin Hester, etc ... Guys who on paper have certain skills, but dont look like the total package... But come gameday they put it all out on the field and make things happen. They actually WIN games for their team...

The key to our offense being productive next year is 3 things.

1. Ronnie Brown needs to stay healthy and get 25 carries a game.
2. Hudson needs to whip our offensive line into shape and get the consistancy we were starting to get at the end of last season. Samson Saetele either turns into a guard , or plays center naturally and we get Rex Hadnot back to Guard. But we're definately slim at elite talent on our line still and we hardly attacked it on draft day so I'm assuming we like the young talent we have.
3. We need to help get Ginn involved in some attractive wide receiver sets that will give Chris Chambers single coverage.

Keep in mind. Although none of our Quartberback situations are that promising. Adding Ted Ginn Jr to this team is going to relieve alot of pressure off our line. With his speed and our other reliable receivers, we're going to have a lot of fast timing plays that are going to back defenses off, keep our quarterback standing up and give alot of confidence to the whole offense.

Defense

Our defense is solid, we have probably the best linebacker corps (atleast for a season or two) in the nfl. Our D-line is a litty shakey, but I think we all agree that Matt Roth is a very promising kid and Vonnie Holiday had his best season last season. The biggest question mark on our line is DT. Traylor plays well, but lets face it he is OLD and cant play an entire game. We all want to see what Rodrique Wright can do. However I really like the guy we drafted Paul Soliai. If either of those can really contribute then I wont be worried, however as of now I see this as our prime weakness on defense. The next problem is our entire secondary.

Both of our safety's started clicking at the very end of the season. I dont know one dolphin fan who doesn't love Yeremiah Bell. However we have little to no depth at the position and really didnt touch it in the draft (disappointment). Our cornerbacks are worse. You need 1 shut down corner in the NFL. Now we've gotten away with it for the past two seasons (after the departure of Patrick Surtain). But the New England Patriots just brought in Randy Moss. And the AFC east has some pretty weak secondaries (outside of New England). This is why I didnt like the drafting of John Beck, because cornerback in my opinion was actually a much bigger need. Will Allen, Travis Daniels, Jason Allen, Andre Goodman, Michael Lehan.... None of these guys can cover #1 receivers, let alone a 30 year old Randy Moss.... I have no answer for this.... Its a big weakness on our team, bigger than quarterback..

I see another 6-10 , 7-9, 8-8 season ahead of us...

But we are putting together some nice pieces

Next year is very important that we draft Cornerback, Inside Linebacker, and Guard ....

Then we can talk about having some good seasons ahead of us...

I think bringing in Trent Green is a waste of time unless he's released and has a very re-structured contract. Tell me this. Is the difference of Cleo Lemon and Trent Green 2 W's during the season. Because if its not, then how is it worth anything to us when Green is past his prime...
