I just want to say something about why people are so shocked that Turner hasn't gotten any burn this year at WR.

"He can't contribute on special teams."

"He needs to learn the playbook."

"He needs to improve his route running."

Yeah, bull****. How about I give you two names. Dwayne Jarrett. Mike Williams. Who are those guys? They are former 6'5" standouts at USC, absolutely dominating and getting big pub. Then when they got to the pros, they amounted to nothing. Turner is no different. He is a carbon copy of those guys.

They are all early round draft picks, and pretty soon all 3 will be out of football. The game calls for speedy, crisp route-running, sure-handed receivers and none of these guys have that. If you want height, draft a big TE. If you want a red zone threat, draft a TE. But damn, people need to get off Turner's jock. This WR corps is mediocre and average, and Turner couldn't get a few balls thrown his way? Not after the 'great' preseason he had, right? Where he was dominating? Just like Wilford last year?

Give it a rest. Turner is junk. BUST.

Turner never dominated in college, and he didnt even run at the combine if I remember correctly. The only thing we had to go on was Pete Carolls word that he was good enough. I still dont think he was our target in the 3rd. BP does draft for need over value, and I think this was the case with Turner. Risk pick that didnt pan out imo.

Well to be fair, Turner can catch ANYTHING. its just the other aspects that are hindering him.

You can't give up hope too soon. Miles Austin didn't amount to anything in his first couple of seasons in the nfl but after playing in the system for a while he finally developed into an outstanding standout player. Now, I am not saying he is going to be the next Miles Austin but give the kid one more season to develop and see where he goes from there.

This thread is a bust

Dude you can't call a first year wideout a bust. What if they'd called Miles a bust during his first year (he didn't play much if at all his first year) they would have released him. Now look at him in his fourth year. You have no patience or understanding of the normal process of learning the pro game. With that in mind feel free to call Jason Allen and Ginn a bust....after year three, no significant improvement.
C'mon Man!

Did you even READ the thread? Sure I can call him a bust. Dwayne Jarrett and Mike Williams are the same kind of player and are both busts. Turner is worst of the 3 because he can't even beat out mediocre and bad receivers.

Those two weren't called busts until a few years in the league. Yeh i read the thread. Wish i could have those minutes of my life back.
Can you honestly say you have never heard the three season rule? That it typically takes three years to declare someone a bust? They mention it over and over during the draft process as they reflect on drafts of years past.

You're probably the same sap that thought Ginn would need 3 years. How's that working out?

You must be around 20 years old, that you have to name call.
Your lack of patience undermines your ability to seem intelligent about the process.
And no i am not a Ginn supporter.

Not sure what publications you read..... Turner was far from dominant at USC and fans there had the same opinion many Dolphin fans have now......good practice player who doesn't do much when it matters. Maybe he does end up as a bust and maybe he follows in the footsteps of another fellow alum Steve Smith. Who knows.

Nope, a little older and tired of the blind optimists. Lack of patience? Was I not patient with Ginn, Fletcher, Yatil Green, Eddie Moore, Brandon London, Beck, etc.? Call a spade a spade.

Again, Turner = Jarrett = Williams. They're the same player, and there's a reason none are contributing.

I couldn't agree more. I hope Parcells & company change their philosophy regarding WR, the NFL changed in 2004. Acceleration, top end speed and change of direction is so much more important than size. Don't get me wrong, I thinkyou have to have a certain combination of those things, but IMO, height is the least important. As long as that player has the right combination of size/speed/quickness to beat the jam off the line, that's good enough for me.

I do like Hartline though, I think he can be a pretty good #2.

I agree, who knows. I never said i was a staunch supporter, and i am not. I am just willing to wait until "the other shoe drops".

Seriously? Your determining a player before he has even seen significant action in the NFL? Unbelievable. He may not be on the roster in 2010, but that does not in any way mean he's a bust. I bet you would've called Peyton Manning a bust after his first year... It takes time to determine whether or not a player is going to be good or not.

Good route running and great hands will keep you employed in the NFL. Being a genetic freak (speed/size) with the aforementioned skills will make you a star.

I don't know anything about Turner. He doesn't play. If he can't catch or run a route, yet. Then his size is worthless.
