I don't care who the starter ends up being but the one thing I do know is this coaching staff needs to choose a starter and stick with him for the remaining 12 games. In my experience of watching NFL football I have never seen a team that has a 3 ring circus QB contraversey be successful in any way. Our caoching staff cannot allow this to happen. I think there was way too much indecision in this past week. Here we were going into Foxboro to face the team that perennially is the best team in the division and we don't make a decision on our starting QB until Saturday which basically gave him one day of practice with the 1st unit (Thursday). That is unacceptable!! If we were going to go with Joey Harrington it should have been decalred Monday and Joey should have gotten all of the practice. I hope Saban and the staff do not play games with the position in this upcoming game. We shouldn't need smokescreens and mind games to play "winning football".

We don't have a QB controversy. Repeat after me: Joey Harrington is the backup. If you start seeing "QB Controversy In Miami" headlines, it's because the sports media is looking for a new story now that the Eagles have closed the book on The Great Dreaded Terrell F'ing Owens Saga Live On Sportscenter.

Culpepper is hurt. Harrington is doing his job as the backup. When Culpepper is back to form, he'll be back as the starter. It's that simple.

I think DC had a bruised shoulder that affected his play. That is why Harrington started. Saban wanted to give DC time to see if he would be ready. He wasn't. He's not going to tell us anything until the last minute. To me, that is not a "3 ring circus QB contraversey". So far, Saban has said that DC is our starter. Now, if he changes on that it could turn into a contraversy.

Agree, C-Peper may play with a better O-line, not our actual position.

Not according to Sabans comments and every NFL analyst i've heard since yesterday including Dan Marino...Harrington is our QB now and rightfully so.

Even the media was making fun of the supposed "shoulder injury" yesterday and Daunte says he's not hurt, quit using that as an excuse for his poor play.

Saban's comments are that Culpepper is our guy, and Harrington is our backup. He's said this every time he was asked about it. Nothing's changed.

Even the media was making fun of the supposed "shoulder injury" yesterday and Daunte says he's not hurt, quit using that as an excuse for his poor play.

So what? They don't make personnel choices for the Miami Dolphins.

In my opinion, here is the problem. Joey should have been the starter until Daunte was 100% healthy. They say it takes what, at least a year for someone to come back from the injuries he had? Even though all the reports were that his rehabbing was ahead of schedule, we all could see through the first four games that he was not back to 100%. I didn't see the game but it sounds like Joey made what, just one or two big mistakes at New England, and only got sacked once, and this was on just a couple of full days of practice with the first unit?

With that being said, I have no problem with Joey being the starter the rest of the year. None. What's the worst thing that can happen, the Dolphins lose most of their games? That's exactly what was happening with Daunte at quarterback.

That's the media's job. To toy with all of our little heads and put ideas into our head that our not actually true. They stir things up so that they have something to talk about and this is no different. Saban is not making Harrington the full time starter because of how much we invested in Dante. Dante is "Saban's guy".

SABAN went with CULPEPPER for several reasons .... his 'past performance', his unyielding efforts during rehab, the players instant confidence in him, he understood the offense AND that we spent a 2d round draft pick on him ....

He milked him along as long as he could, I don't think he will continue to do that .... I think he is looking at it as performance based now --- and that means HARRINGTON starts at least to the break ....

The BOTTOM LINE IS PERFORMANCE .... not who is the QB ... just get the job done and move the Offense and score points.

This will be a very hard lesson learned for SABAN ....you don't OWE any player anything ... you are PAYING them to perform -- that's called a J-O-B ... and you get NO slack

The bottom line is Saban needs to be decisive. He needs to play the QB that gives the best chance to win. If he doesn't he'll lose the team. Going back and forth won't work. He has to pick one and go with it. If he gets injured or doesn't play well for said number of games that it's time to look at other options.

When asked about his injury Culpepper said: "Ask Coach about my injury"

Saban said: "Culpepper has been having problems with his shoulder since the Bills game"
Wouldn't that mean he got hurt against the Bills and has been unproductive still so he uses it as a reason to sit him out.

Culpepper was throwing balls on the sideline and before the game making it perfectly obvious that he was not injured.

Culpepper is not playing well. In part to his knee but it is mostly mental.

Put it this way, if we start winnning with Harrington, Culpepper will never see the field again in a Dolphins uniform barring any injury. He will be traded somewhere for a 3rd round pick. The job is currently Harringtons to lose. If Harrington doesn't play well then Culpepper gets the job back.

Also didn't the Chargers have a QB controversy? They did well with it for two years.

Chambers Interview
Q. Was your timing better with Joey Harrington than with Daunte Culpepper?
Yeah, I think the timing was pretty good today. We took what the defense gave us. They were leaving the flats open, leaving the shallow crosses open, and Joey was able to get the ball out of his hand very quickly to get them in the other guys' hands so they could make plays.

Another Saban Comment
''I'm really proud of the way our guys played today,'' ``They competed their tail off.''

''I feel like we're a lot better football team today than we have been in a long time,'' ``I almost feel like we became a team out there.''

Article from the Herald
If you don't call this a quarterback controversy, you weren't watching Culpepper in the postgame locker room. This was an angry, disappointed starting QB who felt strongly he should have played.

Saban put it off publicly on Culpepper's bruised right shoulder. Even though Culpepper has been playing with said mild injury (and increasingly well, by the way) since Sept. 17. Even though he had practiced with it Friday.
And even though he warmed up before Sunday's game and again during the first quarter with no apparent pain.
Culpepper wanted to play, felt strongly he was able to, and was not happy to be denied by his coach

To me this says Harrington is our starter until Daunte gets ready mentally and it has nothing to do with his shoulder. It is his knee and lack of mobility that he needs because he simply doesn't have the decision making ability to be a pure pocket passer.

If Harrington starts winning with this team and plays well do you really think Daunte will ever take back his starters job.

I have to agree here's another one:

Saban got agitated Sunday in preemptively saying he didn't know if Culpepper would start next week at the Jets or when he might be ready to start again. ``So don't ask me.'' :sidelol:
