Browns | Draft options

Steve Doerschuk, of the Canton Repository, reporting for the Sporting News, reports the Cleveland Browns have an enticing draft pick at No. 3 overall, and odds are even that they would trade down if an attractive offer comes along. The team regards Wisconsin OT Joe Thomas as the surest thing at the top of the draft, and they look at Oklahoma RB Adrian L. Peterson as a considerable injury risk.

Steve Doerschuk, of the Canton Repository, reporting for the Sporting News, reports the Cleveland Browns have been monitoring what it would take to pry restricted free-agent QB Matt Schaub (Falcons) away from the Atlanta Falcons in a draft-related trade. They also have been studying Houston Texans QB David Carr.

If the Browns are looking at both Shaub and Carr, or they get one of them, I think they will try to move down in the draft. They would be an ideal trading partner. Especially with the interest they already have in Mare...we can throw him in the deal with our #9, one of our 2nd rounds, and maybe a 2nd or 3rd in next year's. Who knows..just throwing this out there. If the Raiders trade Moss, which I think they will..its just a matter of time..most likely to Green Bay for Rodgers, then I think they will take Calvin Johnson. That leaves Detroit either taking Quinn, Russell, or Thomas, or trading down. Either way, Quinn, Russell, or Thomas would be there for the taking if we traded up

I think every team in the top 5 would, just with due diligence, explore the possibility of dealing down, in part to see what they'd get, but also because the signing fee is smaller for say, the 10th pick and the 30th and the 51st, than it is for the 3rd.

Funny how it appears that the top three teams may try to trade down....what does that say about the top three players?

Not a lot. It says more about paying a top 3 pick so much money.

Calvin Johnson is as good a player coming out as I've seen in 15 years. And if he can stay 100%, Adrian Peterson has genuine Hall of Fame potential. So I think it says nothing about the standard of the players, more about paying out $60 million.

I would rather see us stay put where we are in the 1st round and maybe use our picks to move up in one of the middle rounds to get someone we really want.

man, I'd like to trade down on your avatar

I hope the Browns sign Carr or Schaub. It eliminates them from the Brady Quinn sweepstakes and it might be worth making a deal with them. They can send our 2nd rounder that we got from the Pats over to get Schaub if needed.

I have no idea. There are so many things they could do; trade up for Quinn, trade up for Thomas, stay and take Brown, stay and takv a flyer on Staley, move down and take Staley, stay and take Ginn, stay and take Meacham, trade down and take either, stay and take Olsen, trade down and get him, draft Carriker, draft Anderson, draft Revis or Hall or Landry or Nelson.

I have NO idea.
