The Cam Wake Haters - You Know Who You Were

Right now, Wake is the best pass rusher on the team. Not dominant on his own, but very effective when he has help on the other side.
I have no problem with him getting the money, but he better produce some double digits.

I beg to differ. Wake is very dominant in my opinion. If the officials would start calling holding penalties on the offensive linemen that he goes against more frequently, we might start to see that dominance. Lawd knows it's needed.... :D

i remember. i dont get why so many people dont give players a chance. just like on draft day everyone crys and they dont even know what kind of player they will be

dude, do you ever watch the games or listen on radio? Cam Wake is a DOMINATE force off the edge in the vast majority of match ups. You're crazy.

The opposite is true too. Brandon London was supposed to become a playmaker at wide receiver for us.

If you criticize a CFL player coming to the NFL, most times you will be right. It is great that he has produced, but a lot of the negativity came from people calling him a future Pro Bowler right away, just like they do with every late pick or undrafted player we sign.

Dude...I go to an occasional game and DVR the games...I like Wake...but I want more SACKS. Pressures and holding calls help, but sacks change the field position and get the QB thinking about the pressure. I am not a Wake hater. I just want him to play at his highest level.

Since everyone is elated to see Cam extend, and to all of us who love to see him cause havoc on the field.......remember........

When we grabbed him from the CFL for nothing, I remember the chaos. Endless threads where a small minority of us fought for the naysayers to give him a chance. All we heard was a forum full of negatives....people who blasted him using the logic that there were so few CFL imports that had ever done well.

We fought to at least give him a chance.

Yes. You know who you were. Can you man up and say you were wrong?

Spent some time today revisiting those old threads. Funny actually......He was written off before a single camp. Man up. Let me hear you now. Can you man up and say you were wrong?

 I remember those threads very well amigo... Crazy times... It came from a combination of gross misunderstanding of the Canadian game mixed with having not seen him play a snap up there... You can still see a few remnants of the thinking in here... The broad generalization that the CFL is simply a sub standard league without bothering to grasp the nuances... Truth is, It is a COMPLETELY Different style of game and direct comparisons simply don't apply...

But if anyone bothered to watch him play up there.. They would have seen a force of nature... the guy was regularly beating triple teams and totally abusing the Linemen... Causing havoc on every down. That league had never seen anything like him... It was OBVIOUS the guy was going to be an impact player... Unless of course you had never watched him play.

I stated I loved the pick up when we signed him and it's in a few of the old threads. The pay day was over due.

I also want to say that I believe Jerome Messam will be a force in the NFL as well. Either with the Fins or someone else.

Don't sleep on that guy, i'll say it here..

Well when he is the only threat he gets doubled all the time.

But to say he isn't dominant is beyond crazy, best pass rusher in the NFL since 09? Maybe 10.

I thought skepticism when the guy first signed from the CFL was warranted. I watched his CFL games and came away very impressed, but understandably very, very, very few people could have done the same.

However, where I think the original poster has a point, was that there were still a bunch of naysayers during and after the 2009 season, when anyone with a pair of eyes and half a brain in their head should have been able to see that Cameron Wake had SPECIAL pass rush ability that showed up on NFL football fields.

Those are the people that I would say "you know who you are" to.

From memory he wasn't unleashed straight away, was introduced gradually into the lineup. Think it is ok to be sceptical on anyone but to say with conviction that someone won't succeed especially on the team you follow is a bit silly.

They over paid...much like this team does with ALL of its linemen...

Well since you went back and did that research, maybe you should be balanced in your approach and see who already ate that crow. But that might be asking to much from you huh?:vaark:

This thread is about 2 years late. As for Wake...he needs to put up some numbers this year. You can't continue to rely on some website or magazine saying your the most held player in the NFL. Eventually, ala Strahan, Taylor and players like Law. Taylor, Derrick Thomas and others, put the numbers up. He has to put the numbers up this year.

As for his motor and heart, second to none.

I said Patty White wouldn't succeed straight away. I was with 'conviction' positive that White would not amount to much. And guess what, I was right. What about all those WildPat threads. He is doing the WildPat now, in his backyard.
